00:00On the streets of the resort-out Puerto Vallarta, burnt-out cars and businesses torched.
00:06This is just one example of the damage caused by cartel members after the death of kingpin
00:11Domicio Oseguera on Sunday. At least 20 of Mexico's 32 states have seen unrest.
00:18Criminal groups also blocked roads and attacked security forces, leaving dozens dead.
00:24The government has mobilised around 10,000 troops to restore the peace. In some areas,
00:29residents were advised to stay home, public transportation was suspended and school was cancelled.
00:37They said it was better if we didn't go out to work because things were going to be complicated,
00:42so I decided it was safer to stay home for my own safety and for my vehicles.
00:49While an uneasy calm has been restored to most affected areas, residents remain frustrated by
00:55the situation. We want everything to be brought under control so we can go to work, go out with
01:02our families, have fun, because right now you can't even be on the street at certain hours,
01:07since there's always a kidnapping or an accident. In Tijuana, near the US border wall, damage caused
01:16by criminal groups was clearly visible on Monday. The US embassy is advising US citizens in Mexico
01:22to minimise unnecessary movements in affected areas.
