General Election London: When will we know the result in my constituency as night of drama unfolds?
Transcript
00:00So, ready for General Election Night?
00:03Here's a very rough guide to how things may unfold in London.
00:07So, set your alarm for 1.30am in the morning.
00:12That's when the first declarations in London are expected to come in.
00:16That's Putney and Tooting.
00:19Both of them are safe Labour seats, so no great excitement there.
00:243am, that is when the drama may really start
00:28because we're expecting the results then for Islington North and Chelsea and Fulham.
00:34In Islington North, can Jeremy Corbyn, the former leader of the Labour Party,
00:40now standing as an independent, beat the official Labour candidate?
00:45In Chelsea and Fulham, can London Minister Greg Hands hang on there?
00:51And if he can't, that may spell the end of any Tories left in inner London.
00:57Now, 3.30am in the morning, the King may have wanted to set his alarm for this time
01:03because we may learn then whether Buckingham Palace will be in a Labour constituency
01:09for the first time ever if the cities of London and Westminster goes red.
01:14At 3.45am, it will be Lib Dem nirvana or tragedy time
01:20because at this time in the morning, Sir Ed Davies' party should learn
01:25that it has won its three target seats in South West London.
01:29That is Wimbledon, Sutton and Cheam and Carshalton and Wallington.
01:344.30am and the champagne corks should be popping in Hampstead and Highgate.
01:40This is the constituency of the champagne socialists and again, Labour expected to win here.
01:47But the fizz may go out of the Tory bubbly in Kensington and Bayswater
01:52if they lose in that West London seat.
01:555am and it's Diane Abbott o'clock.
01:58There, the Labour veteran is set to win in Hackney North and Stoke Newington
02:04despite efforts by Labour Party chiefs for it to bar her from standing.
02:10And 6.30am, if you're still awake, it's almost over in London
02:15because by then, Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting
02:18should be one of the last results to come in in Ilford North where he is also expected to win.
