Hundreds of runners take part in Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All Leeds 10K 2024

We meet some of the runners who completed Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All Leeds 10K 2024.

00:09I'm not a runner at all myself really, I started running about 2 months ago

00:13I did my first 10k for Race for Life when my dad unfortunately got diagnosed with prostate cancer

00:18It made me want to start getting into running and mainly do it for him

00:22It was great to see everybody getting together for a good cause

00:26The training went really well so I've got a nice time to beat for next time

00:30Looking forward to what's next to be honest

00:32We're running for a friend of our son who died recently

00:35It's for the Bridge Project, Patrick Lake

00:37We've had a lovely time, great crowds, great event, marvellous

00:41We loved it, it was really good

00:43We liked the choir, the rock choir

00:45That was a bit emotional

00:46The hill at the end was a bit hard

00:48But we got through

00:50The low light was definitely running up that hill towards Headingley

00:54Doing the opposite way of the Otley run, that was a bit of a challenge

00:59But I think the highlight was running in towards Leeds City Centre

01:03We're in a running club together at work so that's why we decided to do it

01:06It's nice and warm but not as hot as they predicted so we were happy about that

01:11Anybody can do it, as long as you can do a bit of running

01:14And if there's a bit of walking it doesn't matter

01:16The main point is you're out here and you're getting exercise and you're getting out into the sun

01:21I signed up after Christmas, I think running was having its moment

01:26There were lots of half marathons around October time

01:28And I thought this was going to be a New Year's resolution for me to get into running

01:3110k sounds like a nice way to start

01:33I've run today to remember a good friend, Matt Harvey

01:36Who we lost last year

01:38There's about 30 of us running together for him

01:41And it's just remembering him

01:43He always wore a tutu when he ran so that's why we're all wearing tutus today to remember him

01:47Because he did it every year didn't he?

01:51Along with many other races

01:53I've been practising for the last three weeks and it's awesome

01:56I always run and I like to reach 10k all the time
