00:00Let's give him a big round of applause.
00:08We heard how recently,
00:10including Microsoft employees,
00:12has announced a large number of investments.
00:16And certainly,
00:18with this large investment,
00:20it reflects a belief
00:22among investors
00:24that Malaysia is a country
00:26with high potential,
00:28stable,
00:30and bright future.
00:34But if we say
00:36the value of large investments
00:38without reflecting
00:40the benefits
00:42of these investments
00:44to ordinary people,
00:46for me,
00:48that's not enough.
00:50Therefore,
00:52our presence, ladies and gentlemen,
00:54together with Microsoft employees
00:56is proof
00:58that we need to translate
01:00the big announcements,
01:04the numbers,
01:06about investment inclusion,
01:08from the meaning of
01:10goodness and benefits to the people.
01:12We have to work together to translate
01:14all of these amazing good news.
01:16But we see this
01:18week in, week out.
01:20Malaysia will continue to be
01:22a very
01:24preferred destination for a lot of
01:26investment, including in the field of
01:28AI, semiconductors,
01:30and several other key technologies.
01:32With good tools,
01:34we also have to make sure that they do not become
01:36weapons.
01:38With other AI,
01:40ladies and gentlemen, I believe
01:42we need to be more careful
01:44if AI is misused
01:46to cause damage.
01:48I have received
01:50a lot of complaints from
01:52acquaintances,
01:54people who messaged me
01:56about AI
01:58being deepfake.
02:00It looks like him,
02:02it kind of sounds like him,
02:04but it's not him.
02:06So, what I would like to tell you today,
02:08as Malaysians,
02:10we need to be more flexible,
02:12we need to know more
02:14about what is
02:16artificial intelligence, what is AI.
02:18We need to try
02:20to fill this AI,
02:22as stated by the Prime Minister,
02:24with what we understand as
02:26the values of
02:28Malaysia, the values of the East,
02:30the values of Asia. This is important.
02:32So that
02:34the answer we receive
02:36from AI also reflects
02:38our values
02:40in the end. We also need
02:42to be careful
02:44if AI is
02:46misused to
02:48deceive us,
02:50to play us,
02:52to commit crimes
02:54against the people of Malaysia
02:56or the majority of the people.
02:58I think this is
03:00a good effort to
03:02improve people's understanding
03:04of the public
03:06and also the MCMC team,
03:08especially regarding
03:10the use of artificial intelligence
03:12or AI and applications
03:14in both
03:16the MCMC team
03:18and also to be
03:20used by the National Information
03:22Dissemination Centre or NADI
03:24across the country. We have 911
03:26NADI and 186
03:28that will be prepared
03:30in the near future
03:32and we hope it can be used.
03:34I have instructed
03:36Microsoft and MCMC
03:38that the effort to
03:40improve people's awareness and understanding
03:42of the use of
03:44artificial intelligence or AI
03:46needs to be improved, especially in
03:48urban and rural areas
03:50to ensure
03:52that no community
03:54is left behind.
03:56As I mentioned in my speech, there is
03:58AI that can be used for good
04:00and AI that can be used
04:02for crime
04:04and for
04:06ill intent.
04:08For the people,
04:10it's important that they understand
04:12how to use
04:14AI ethically. We don't
04:16want people to
04:18for example, plagiarise
04:20especially in their homework
04:22or their coursework, but
04:24at the same time, not to be fooled by
04:26the misuse of AI to generate
04:28for example, deep fake content
04:30as though it is said by
04:32such and such a person, whereas
04:34actually it's just manipulated
04:36using AI.
04:38An awareness of this is also important.
04:40We want to make sure that as the
04:42rakyat embraces the use of AI,
04:44they're also aware of how
04:46AI can be misused
04:48for crime
04:50and to harm others.
