00:00Well Australia is the country to beat in the swimming pool and it's easy to see

00:03why after day one of the swimming trial saw Ariane Titmuss and Emma McKeown

00:07booked their tickets to Paris to discuss Olympic champion swimmer Brooke Hanson

00:12joins us now from the Goldie. Brooke good morning to you, Ariane Titmuss, what a

00:16statement from her.

00:20How good was that swim last night just six one hundredths of a second off her

00:25own world record she was so close to it but she's just so happy Carl she's

00:30loving her swimming the pressure is off she's made this Olympic team she's of

00:35course the reigning world champion the reigning Olympic champion she's the

00:38world record holder but she's like do you know what I love my swimming and I'm

00:41really looking forward to my second Olympic. It looked like she was really going for it.

00:48She was she was absolutely going for it and she was still under world record pace

00:52at that 350 meter mark 50 meters to go when I know that I was up in in my

00:58lounge room screaming at her just like the rest of the nation but she was like

01:02do you know what it's not about the world record I don't need to break world

01:05records here but she's definitely put the rest of the world on notice we can't

01:09wait to see that 400 freestyle at the Olympic Games in Paris in less than six

01:14weeks I know it's going to be a great race again with her her main rivals and

01:19we can't wait to see Katie Ledecky and Ariane Titmuss go again for that Olympic

01:23gold. I know look it's going to be enticing even though I'm not sure the

01:27Americans have broken many records or come that close to them but Australia's

01:31greatest Olympian with a record 11 medals Emma McKeown may have celebrated

01:35her 30th birthday recently she's shown she's not slowing down either and what

01:39can we expect from her in Paris?

01:43Well just for her to make the team she of course again just said last night I'm

01:48relaxed I'm feeling so much pressure is off my shoulders now for her to go to

01:53this Olympic Games she should be going in there just going do you know what

01:57I've got an opportunity to win another Olympic gold medal and I just loved how

02:02she still just it just means so much to her Carl she she got nervous she she

02:07doubts herself but she just got in there and went hey I'm still here to be

02:11counted for and and won that hundred meters butterfly last night again joined

02:15by Kaylee McKeown and what a what a great 200 medley for her Commonwealth

02:20Games record and what I loved about night one of the swimming we had 10

02:24qualify for the Olympic Games but six of them were rookies yeah and look the

02:29fellas had all their obliques out as we were discussing before however they look

02:34good don't know the boys the boys look sensational and we we saw some fast

02:41swims last night of course in the hundred meters breaststroke and the boys

02:45in the 400 freestyle but this Carl this will definitely be the best Olympic team

02:51that we've ever seen and I know that I'm really excited about it I can't wait to

02:54to get up there and cheer them on tonight and of course the legends relay

02:59tomorrow night so there's a few of us are these old Olympians that will be

03:03back in the pool and I'm we're really looking forward to being on pool deck

03:06and then diving in the water ourselves yeah the obliques on full show tomorrow

03:09night that's for sure there'll be no hiding you can watch the Australian

03:13Swimming Trials live and free on nine and nine now it's gonna be unreal says

03:17including yours too yeah that's it just get them out there I'll have that and

03:21more shortly but night one of the Australian Swimming Trials have been run

03:25and won with nine Aussies sealing their spot on the Dolphins team and are now

03:30heading to the Olympic Games Ariane Titmuss and Emma McKeon firming their

03:34spots along with a couple of first-timers on the blocks for their

03:38ticket to Paris and it was two-time golden girl Ariane Titmuss who claimed

03:46the first spot on the Olympic team

03:56just missing the world record by six one hundredths of a second

04:07did in 1988 Lani's godmother Dawn Fraser watching on I'm really really lucky to

04:13have them in my corner Kaylee McKeown breaking her own Australian record in

04:18the individual medley half a second off world record pace while Ella Ramsey also

04:24earned her spot Sam Williamson and Josh Young touching the wall with qualifying

04:30times in the breaststroke I think I'm lost for words I told myself this

04:34morning if you make it don't cry on TV will you probably when I give my mom and

04:40dad a hug and it wouldn't be an Olympic team without the most successful Aussie

04:45Olympian of all time Emma McKeon through in the 100-meter

04:50butterfly

04:58well done look at him go congratulations to all of those who've got through and
