00:03But I see you also method-dressed for the moment, I feel like.

00:07All the colors. All the emotions, honey. All in one dress.

00:13Yeah, yeah, we got it. We weren't picking our favorite. We know where we are.

00:17When you think about the red carpet, what is your primary emotion of today?

00:21Red carpet? Not joy. I'm sorry. I'm very sorry.

00:26I'm sure you could tell by maybe if you ever looked at a picture of me on the red carpet.

00:29Not my fave place. Not where I feel like home.

00:33But part of the job.

00:35And sometimes the red carpet is a place where, in my experience,

00:41where you get to see someone or meet someone.

00:44There's been a couple moments in my life where I've seen someone on the red carpet

00:47that has been like a comedy hero of mine.

00:50And you can bum rush them.

00:52And they can't go anywhere. They're trapped.

00:54What was your favorite one of those moments?

00:56I'm trying to think. I know I've definitely met...

01:01Oh, you know who I met on the red carpet a couple years ago that I just love?

01:05It's Kelly Clarkson.

01:07And we hugged and met on the red carpet.

01:09And now I think we're besties.

01:12I think you probably are. And I think if we asked her, she would say the same thing.

01:16Please ask her. Find her wherever she is and ask her.

01:19I certainly will. But red carpets are more fun when we're talking about a beloved film.

01:24Like Inside Out and now Inside Out 2.

01:27What have you enjoyed the most about really the conversations

01:30that I'm sure you're having with people all over the world

01:33about what this series means to them?

01:35Yeah, that's a great question. The conversations are the thing.

01:38Look, this is an animated, fun, adventurous, funny movie.

01:42But the cool thing about Inside Out 1 is it gets you talking about a world.

01:47Like, how do you explain how you feel?

01:50And they do it in such a beautiful, visual, funny way.

01:53So it's been a lot of that.

01:55How do we deal with anxiety? How do we feel what it's like being a teenager?

01:59What's it like having more than one emotion in your head?

02:02How does Joy learn how to take a back seat and let her child soothe herself?

02:07All those cool things. So it's been awesome to talk about.

02:11What moment from your teenage years did you keep in the back of your head

02:14as you were thinking about the anxiety that Riley was going through in this movie?

02:18You know what? There's a really small moment in the film that just, I think,

02:21isn't specific to me but to every teenager where they say something

02:25and they're in their head like, how did that sound?

02:28How is my voice sound?

02:30It's such a moment between 12 and 13 where you're just talking

02:34and then suddenly you're hearing yourself talk.

02:38It's a wild moment, but it happens to all of us.

02:41It's happening to me right now.

02:43You sound amazing. I did want to ask you one more thing

02:45because I can't wait to see you get back into the director's chair again.
