She was in labor, feeling the intense pain of childbirth.  Yet, amidst the contractions, she found herself laughing uncontrollably.  It was as if the laughter was her body's way of dealing with the pain, making her feel light-headed and giddy, almost as if she had inhaled too much laughing gas.  Her laughter was so intense that she could hardly focus on the task at hand, her body shaking with mirth even as it prepared to bring new life into the world.
