00:00The general election takes place next year
00:03But with Labor Day coming up next week, the labor movement is calling on workers to do due diligence
00:09before casting their vote.
00:11People of Trinidad and Tobago are the employers.
00:14Let me say that again.
00:16The people of Trinidad and Tobago,
00:18we are the employers
00:20and they are coming to you
00:22in no time,
00:24very soon, to ask you
00:26to employ them again
00:29for another five years.
00:31But hold it.
00:33Before you quick to employ them,
00:35let us do an assessment
00:37on the performance
00:39and determine how did they perform.
00:41How did they perform
00:43on job evaluation?
00:45How did they perform?
00:47How did they perform in terms of health?
00:49How did they perform in terms of crime?
00:51How did they perform
00:53in terms of the economy?
00:55Roger says government's treatment of workers
00:57should be paramount during this evaluation
00:59and he is pre-empting the results
01:01of the exercise
01:03by announcing failure on the part of the government.
01:05Remember how they say
01:07everybody would get their back pay by Christmas last year?
01:09Remember that?
01:11Take your mind back to that.
01:13Today, as we speak
01:15on this launch of Labor Day 2024,
01:19a significant number of persons
01:21have not gotten their back pay.
01:23A significant number of persons
01:26have not gotten correct pay
01:28and so on.
01:30And we are counting
01:32and checking off all of the boxes
01:34where they would have failed
01:36and where they would have passed.
01:38And I can tell you
01:40there are very few boxes
01:42that are difficult to identify
01:44where they would have passed
01:46in anything over the last years.
01:48If anything at all,
01:50they have brought pain and suffering
01:52to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
01:55The labor movement is calling on all workers
01:57to come down to Faizabad
01:59on June 19th
02:01and to send a strong message to the government.
02:03We have everybody
02:05coming together
02:07for just one day
02:09in this Trinidad and Tobago.
02:11This God-given Trinidad and Tobago.
02:13If we have everybody
02:15on one page coming together
02:17dealing with the issues
02:19I guarantee you
02:21those who oppress us
02:23will be out of this place.
