00:03Work is due to begin on a new housing scheme for 143 new homes in a Derbyshire village,

00:09as part of the first phase of a development of up to 650 new homes.

00:14Chesterfield Borough Council approved planning permission for Haran Homes to build the new low ridding development,

00:20with 143 homes, parking areas, roads and landscaping on land to the south of Worksop Road at Maston Moor near Staveley.

00:28Haran has announced that work is due to begin this month, with a marketing suite ready for visitors by November,

00:34despite previously raised concerns about the loss of agricultural land, increased traffic in the area and a possible strain on local services.

00:42The first East Midlands Mayoral Combined Authority Mayor, Clare Ward, will be paid £93,000 a year and will have a deputy on £46,000.

00:52In May, just over a quarter of eligible voters cast their ballots in the inaugural East Midlands Mayor election,

00:59with Labour's Clare Ward winning by a significant margin, claiming victory in almost Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire boroughs.

01:05Now the East Midlands Combined County Authority, of which Miss Ward is the figurehead and chair,

01:10is set to approve her salary, as recommended by an independent panel.

01:14At a meeting on Monday June 17th, the East Midlands Super Council is set to approve the £93,000 salary for Miss Ward.

01:21It would make her the 5th highest paid mayor, behind Sadiq Khan in London on £160,000, Andy Burnham in Manchester on £114,000,

01:30Tracey Brabin in West Yorkshire on £105,000 and Steve Rotherham in Liverpool on £96,000.
