Liverpool named best place in the UK for a staycation break

00:07 such as London, Cardiff and Belfast. Consumer Champions which polled almost

00:10 4,000 members about their experiences of visiting UK cities and towns in the last

00:15 two years. All were scored out of five stars on a range of criteria including

00:19 accommodation, food and drink, cultural sites and tourist attractions, ease of

00:22 getting around, lack of crowds and value for money. An overall city score was

00:26 calculated based on visitors overall satisfaction and likeliness to

00:29 recommend. Liverpool took the top spot in the large cities category with a score

00:33 of 84%. Edinburgh and York tied for second with scores of 83. Described as

00:37 lively and buzzing Liverpool notched a full five stars in the cultural sites

00:41 and tourist attractions category. The city also scored four stars for food and

00:45 drink, shopping, accommodation, lack of crowds and value for money. One

00:48 respondent said "it's got everything you could possibly want. Great for eating

00:53 places, great for sights and famous places and very friendly people."
