Sussex clothes store reopens after fire

Peacocks in Littlehampton officially reopened Thursday 16th May following it's refurbishment after the fire at the store in July 22

00:03 Little Hampton Town Mayor for one more day. This is my final day and my final act is coming

00:09 to head down here to the end of the High Street to the fantastic redeveloped Peacocks, which

00:13 obviously we lost a couple of years ago after a fire, but they've rebuilt and it is looking

00:18 wonderful. So we've got a lovely queue outside, it's looking nice and bright and hopefully

00:22 this is the start of bringing a bit more vibrancy back to the High Street. We know that footfall

00:26 attracts footfall so hopefully getting a few people in regularly to come down here to Peacocks

00:31 to buy what they need will help other shops in town. So it's going to be a slow process,

00:36 we know that, we know it can be frustrating when we see the High Street looking not as

00:39 great as we want it to be, but it is that kind of classic High Street adage of every

00:43 little helps, every little positive bit of news like this we get will add to further

00:47 bits of news. So wonderful to be down here today and we are really looking forward to

00:51 cutting the ribbon in a few minutes. Nearly two years I've been waiting. Right, do a countdown.
