00:03 I spoke against the opposition in the run-up to the Kuala Kubu Baharu by election
00:07 because Bersatu betrayed me.
00:10 This is what Selat Klang Assemblyman Abdul Rashid Assari had to say
00:14 after campaigning for Pakatan Harapan in the May 11 polls.
00:18 Recalling the seat negotiations among Perikatan Nasional components
00:22 before the 15th General Election in 2022,
00:25 Rashid said Bersatu and PAS had agreed
00:27 to stand in seven parliamentary seats each in Selangor.
00:31 It was also agreed that Gerakan would contest four seats
00:34 while another four would be defended by the then incumbent MPs.
00:38 Rashid said PAS decided to stand in KAPAR as well at the last minute,
00:43 despite the seat belonging to Bersatu traditionally.
00:46 He said he fought hard to keep KAPAR for Bersatu
00:49 because if PAS took it,
00:51 the Islamic Party would have held it until the end of the world.
00:55 Rashid also cited another occasion
00:57 where he cemented 22 names for division chief roles
01:00 when he was still leading Selangor Bersatu.
01:02 However, only five of those names were chosen,
01:05 while the remaining spots were given to those
01:07 aligned with certain leaders in Bersatu,
01:09 a group he described as a cartel.
01:12 In March, Rashid declared support for Selangor Menteri Besar, Amiruddin Shari.
01:16 He was previously replaced by former Selangor Menteri Besar,
01:19 Azmin Ali, as the state Bersatu chief.
