The Factory of the Future 1.0 is the world’s largest #3D printer.
At the University of #Maine, Dr. Habib Dagher and his students hope this technology can provide affordable housing and much more.
Dagher and his team are looking into the viability of printing complex structures, while making them affordably and quickly.

00:10 This particular machine really is not just a printer,
00:14 it's really, you can think of it as a hybrid manufacturing cell.

00:23 On this general day where you have a design of a boat that's particular to
00:27 yourself and then you email those designs to a facility like this and
00:32 they can produce a vessel like this in days versus months or years.
00:37 So, and that's a possibility,
00:40 we produced a boat, a 25 foot vessel three years ago in about three days.

01:01 We're in the process right now producing a 50 foot vessel,
01:06 51 and a half foot vessel that we would be putting in the water here within a year.
01:11 Scale up and do a neighborhood and that's where we're heading.
