Severe storm threat shifts to the Southeast

Flooding, hail and the potential for isolated tornadoes are in store for much of the Southeast from May 8-9.

00:00Nashville, though we are under moderate risk as we head through tomorrow and

00:03notice it's tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night that we're looking at

00:06one potential for severe weather. Of course, we've seen a lot of the storm

00:10reports come in from the past couple of hours dealing with large hail and

00:14damaging winds. A lot of those threats will unfold as we head into Thursday.

00:18So that's still going to be a factor for us Wednesday. I should say into

00:22Thursday. That's still gonna be a factor for us Wednesday. Tomorrow. You

00:26can see those numbers back into the nineties. If you're south of where

00:29those thunderstorms are occurring places like Jacksonville, we could be

00:32rivaling record high temperatures. So that's going to be one of the things

00:36that said we're dealing with exceptional warmth there. We also have

00:39exceptional warmth friday thursday rather. And this is in southern texas

00:44places in florida. Even Savannah Georgia could be back into the mid

00:48nineties for afternoon high temperatures as we head through

00:51thursday. But the risk for severe weather does also continue on thursday

00:55and that includes through the Carolinas extending into Mississippi, Alabama

00:59and right into eastern texas where we know there's that chance for some

01:02heavy rainfall that could lead to flooding. But for the most part, those

01:06thunderstorms through thursday will be wind and hail. That's going to be our

01:09greatest threat for severe weather. So watching this through time again

01:13tomorrow morning, watching more thunderstorms pop up, especially

01:15through Kentucky and portions of Missouri that slides south into

01:19thursday morning. And then as we go through time, we will see those

01:22thunderstorms recharge again thursday afternoon and evening.
