00:09Labour made significant gains in their local elections across England and Wales, winning

00:14control of several Leave voting councils.

00:18They seized Rushmore and Redditch, previously held by the Conservatives for decades, and

00:22gained Hartlepool, Thurrock and Peterborough councils.

00:26The Conservatives lost control of north-east Lincolnshire, leaving Neva party with a majority.

00:32These areas all heavily supported Leave in the Brexit referendum.

00:36However, Labour faced losses in Oldham, attributed to its stance on the Gaza conflict.

00:43Despite this setback, Labour retained controls of councils like Sunderland, South Tyneside

00:48and Chorley, while the Greens made gains in Newcastle.

00:52Rishi now will be asking exactly what they want from their councils moving forward.
