Police are searching for an attacker, after a surfer was stabbed at Coffs Harbour this morning. The 22 year-old-man, found with multiple stab wounds was taken to hospital early this morning. Police have since confirmed he has died, with a homicide investigation now underway.

00:00 Police were called here to the car park of the Coffs Harbour Surf Club at around 6.50am
00:06 this morning.
00:07 There, police discovered a 22-year-old man with significant stab wounds.
00:12 Police say that it was believed that he was surfing at the park beach just behind me just
00:17 a few hours earlier and had been attacked moments after leaving the water.
00:21 Now, police since formed a crime scene here.
00:24 Officers from the Coffs Clarence Command have been all over this parkland here searching
00:29 for evidence.
00:30 That search will now intensify sadly as we have confirmation from police that the 22-year-old
00:35 has died in Coffs Harbour Hospital.
00:37 Now I spoke to Guy Flaherty, inspector here in Coffs Harbour.
00:41 He believes that the alleged offender is still at large and may have been active in the parkland
00:45 here.
00:46 We believe that the person responsible may have travelled back from the car park back
00:51 towards the creek and bridge area.
00:56 Now police are seeking any enquiries from the public to help with their investigation,
01:01 urging anyone who might have been here in the early hours of park beach in Coffs Harbour
01:05 to urgently contact Crime Stoppers to help this investigation proceed.
