A look at Everton’s contract situation with a fair few names needing to leave the club to free some finances on their wage bill. A big summer lies ahead as fans await full news of their takeover and hope that change isn’t far away on the pitch.
00:00 Brantway has had a fantastic season by all means. So in terms of the contract situation ahead of the summer,
00:08 you know, obviously clubs could be in for the likes of him. What's the latest you can tell us at Everton in terms of the player contracts?
00:17 They are still dictated by financial fair play rules and what can they do with the budget that they've got.
00:24 I'm sure there are a couple of players, maybe Sean Tite, who would definitely like to keep Tristan Garnagay.
00:30 He was asked about his contract pre-Brentford press conference. He says he plays on a lot of time, he's tactically clever.
00:37 And that to me says he wants to keep Tristan Garnagay. Everton have got a year extension that they can trigger.
00:45 But I imagine Tristan Garnagay, coming from Paris Saint-Germain, he won't be on bad wages whatsoever.
00:52 Everton will have to balance, you know, he's 34, 35 now and he's had a few injuries this season.
00:59 Tristan Garnagay, do Everton use some of those wages to keep him where they might only get, I think he's played 22, 23 times this season for Everton.
01:09 Or be it he went off to the African Cup of Nations. But do Everton do that or did he look elsewhere?
01:14 James Coleman is a really interesting one. You would like to think that Everton could get off with James Coleman, New Deal.
01:20 He's the captain of the club, he knows the heartbeat. And he'll know as well, he's had injuries this season, obviously come back from that serious knee injury.
01:27 And he's then picked up a few muscle injuries. He'll know next season, if he gets himself right over the summer, he can't play every game.
01:34 He'll know he might be able to play one in two, maybe one in three.
01:38 But can you see James Coleman wanting to play his football anywhere else rather than Everton?
01:43 I can't really, to be honest. I can't see Everton not giving the deal of praise for him and the group.
01:50 I think Frank Lampard said before Sean's IC he'll always be welcome at Everton, so maybe Everton could get a player coach role etc for him.
01:57 Ashley Young has played a lot this season, he's going to be what, 38, 39?
02:02 But he's a player who Sean's IC trusts a lot. He's played a lot this season, a lot more than many people expected.
02:09 Everton have got a decision to make on his future. Andre Gomez has played a few games of late, but he's had calf injuries.
02:18 He's had the best part of four months. Personally I think Everton will shake his hand and say good luck for the future.
02:24 He's a significant earner. And then the long deals, you've got the likes of Jack Harlison, who Sean's IC is an admirer of, brought in from Leeds.
02:33 He was asked about can Everton sign him on a permanent basis this summer. It's about funds, what are Leeds going to be demanding.
02:41 He's got four years left on his Leeds contract, so what's going to happen there now?
02:45 And I have to assume there's enough features for Lorries to come back from an ankle injury.
02:49 You can't see him signing on a permanent deal, to be quite honest.
02:54 But yeah, Idrissa Ghanaghi is definitely the intruder and one of the Elster contract players.
