00:00 "I'm Kelman P. Gasworth, the president of Pop-Tarts."
00:03 "I just made a whole movie about Pop-Tarts."
00:04 "Did you now? Well, well, well, isn't that something? Do you think maybe that's why you're here?"
00:10 Pop-Tarts is calling out Jerry Seinfeld ahead of the release of his new movie, Unfrosted.
00:15 Seinfeld directed and co-wrote the film, which he also stars in,
00:19 about the fictional origin story of Pop-Tarts.
00:22 "In the early 1960s, the American morning was defined by milk and cereal.
00:27 And the two undisputed giants of the cereal world were Kelloggs and Post."
00:31 The actor and filmmaker has said of the movie,
00:33 "This really did happen in Battle Creek, Michigan, where Kelloggs and Post were located,
00:38 and they did compete to come up with this product. But the rest of it is complete lunacy."
00:42 Now a new video sees Seinfeld get called in to Pop-Tarts HQ for a major meeting.
00:46 "What Tardy is asking is, are you familiar with the concept of trademark infringement?"
00:54 "That sounds complicated."
00:55 The video, shared on the official Pop-Tarts YouTube channel,
00:58 is a comedic digital short Seinfeld wrote to promote his new film.
01:01 And in the process, he brought back some classic characters from his namesake comedy series.
01:06 "Schmoopy Jackie Chas and the Soup Nazi."
01:09 "My characters."
01:10 "They're my characters now."
01:12 When Mr. Gasworth asked, "How does it feel when people steal your ideas and then do whatever
01:16 they want with them?" Seinfeld took the opportunity to take a jab at another beloved comedy.
01:21 "You mean like Friends?"
01:22 "Take a gander at this. It's our new show. People in Pontiacs eating Pop-Tarts."
01:28 For its part, Pop-Tarts isn't actually upset. The company notes that the movie is "farce,
01:32 not fact," but adds that it represents "the ultimate flattery because it is fan fiction."
01:37 Moreover, Pop-Tarts has created a limited-edition collaboration with the movie.
