Engineering works taking blade on the East Midlands line is set to cause weekend rail disruption

00:11 work to upgrade existing overhead lines over a number of upcoming weekends between the

00:16 East Midlands and London. Network Rail has apologised for inconvenience to passengers

00:21 and urged them to check their journey details before travelling. It said it would try to

00:26 do most of the work overnight to reduce any disruption. The company also confirmed that

00:32 the ongoing work would allow a new fleet of 125mph East Midlands Railway bimodal trains

00:40 to run along the route. Teams will be working overnight between Bedford and Luton on Sundays

00:46 throughout April and May. Rail replacement services between the stations will operate
