00:00 In the midst of the heat, it is possible to feel the weakening of the water supply in Metro Manila.
00:06 In Cebu City, which was first flooded in the State of Calamity,
00:10 there are almost 30 barangays because of the lack of water supply.
00:14 Ivan Mayerina was there.
00:16 This is the former church of the old town of Pantabangan in Nueva Ecija.
00:23 It has been decades since the residents of that area came to build the Pantabangan Dam.
00:27 But because of the heat, the water level in the dam dropped to 176.33 meters
00:33 and it was flooded again.
00:35 The water was slowly going down because of the heat.
00:37 That's why cloud seeding operations are being done to prevent the rain.
00:40 In Barangay Apas, Cebu City,
00:43 there are a lot of drums that need to be filled with water because there is a water crisis every night.
00:48 This is just one of the 28 mountain barangays in Cebu City that was flooded in the State of Calamity
00:53 because of the lack of water supply whenever their crops are drying up.
00:58 Emergency. Crisis on water. I will now declare crisis on water. Just to be preparatory.
01:10 The usual immediate intervention is to send tanks and water rationing for the households.
01:17 Even in Polanggi, Albay, sometimes the water supply is weak or there is no water supply in the four barangays.
01:23 That's why they are rationing the water of the municipality with the help of the fire truck of the Bureau of Fire Protection.
01:28 While in Santo Nino, South Cotabato, the canals, irrigation and fishing roads are drying up.
01:34 The water level in Ala River in Sultan Kudarat is also dropping
01:37 because of the irrigation of corn.
01:40 Here in Metro Manila, there is no water crisis yet
01:43 but the task force El Nino is worried that the water level might drop.
01:47 Because of the continuous heat of our time, the consumption of households is increasing.
01:53 And of course, we will factor in the evaporation and lack of rainfall.
01:59 There is a possibility that it will drop.
02:01 The government is calling for the entire country to save water.
02:05 That's why in Aling Victoria of Cebu, they just filled the back of the canals.
02:11 It is also good to use a bucket instead of a shower or bidet,
02:15 said the task force El Nino.
02:17 If we can save in terms of flushing the toilet,
02:22 because sometimes we will pee, it's not that bad.
02:27 This is not forced, but just for the sake of it.
02:30 We will fill it in two more months of intense heat.
02:34 For GMA Integrated News, Ivan Meyri, for 24 Hours.
