The Road Transport Department (JPJ) uncovered the tactics of van owners from Thailand who were bringing in tourists from that country without a valid licence during a special operation on Monday (March 25).

00:13 JPJ enforcement senior director Datuk Lokman Jaman said the operation was conducted in
00:19 areas near the Malaysia-Thailand border, including Jeli and Rantau Panjang districts.
00:25 He said they stopped 15 such vans where it is believed that each tourist or passenger
00:30 in the van was charged a certain fee per trip to enter Malaysia.
00:35 He said such services will affect the public transportation industry in the country.
00:40 He said the vans used for such services were owned by individuals.
00:44 The case will be investigated under both the Road Transport Act and Tourism Industry Act.
