00:00 I also thank all my customers, the Malaysians that accepted to come and eat food that Africa cook.
00:10 If you stop by Big Three Kopitiam in Cheras, you'll get to enjoy authentic African cuisine prepared by Paul Ibezim Eziobi.
00:20 Hailing from Nigeria, Eziobi once served with the ministry of a local church before it was shut down due to the pandemic.
00:29 Now, he and his wife work at this local store where they hope to introduce African food to Malaysians.
00:36 Well, we have all kinds of soup, we have all kinds of rice also, like Jollof rice, fried rice, stew with white rice also.
00:50 We also have pepper soup with white rice and all that.
00:57 Some of his stall's highlights are the hearty vegetable soup and the savoury egusi soup made with four types of fish.
01:06 While Eziobi enjoys serving Malaysians, he faces prejudice and discrimination from some, which saddens him.
01:15 They can also put it on the notice board that no African should be allowed to live in a place. So all these things are the challenges we are facing.
01:31 He stressed that most foreigners here just want to live and raise their families in peace.
01:40 That is why I am advising Nigerians to always eat Malaysian food. I also do. Every Sunday I always take my family to eat Malaysian food.
01:50 His favourite?
01:52 Nasi lemak!
01:55 As a refugee, Eziobi can only work informally to sustain himself. He hopes to be resettled so he can hold a proper job and support his family.
02:08 I thank all good Malaysians, especially the owners of this restaurant. I also thank all my customers, the Malaysians that accepted to come and eat food that Africa cooks.
02:25 Here's wishing all the best to Paul Eziobi and his family. For more information about this stall, check out the full article by logging on to FMT and following us here.
