00:00 Travel plans in London could be scuppered over Easter with strikes affecting the capital.
00:10 A union has announced a wave of industrial action set to both disrupt the national railway
00:15 network and London Underground over the holidays.
00:20 Aslef announced tube drivers are set to walk out over two days for April 8th and May 4th
00:27 on Wednesday morning the 20th of March.
00:30 In a shock announcement later that day, it also revealed that drivers of 16 train companies
00:35 will be taking one-day rolling walkouts from April 5th to the 8th.
00:42 Finn Brennan, a representative of the union, said on Wednesday that Aslef tube train drivers
00:47 will strike in April and May in a long-running dispute over London Underground's failure
00:52 to give assurances that changes to members' terms and conditions will not be imposed without
00:58 agreement and that all existing agreements will be honoured.
01:04 The new Aslef strike comes just two and a half months after Sadiq Khan used ÂŁ30m raised
01:09 by the taxpayer to avert a week of walkouts by RMT union members, who represent around
01:15 10,000 tube staff.
01:19 But the action doesn't stop there. About 60 Croydon Thameslink engineers are expected
01:24 to go on strike in a row with TfL over pay too, starting from March 24th.
01:31 The London business group Business London said it was hugely frustrating for Londoners,
01:35 visitors and businesses that the capital would grind to a halt again due to industrial action.
