A nationwide glitch has caused Greggs stores across the country to take cash only or outright close due to being unable to process transactions. I visited Sheffield City Centre's Greggs to see if the issue has spread to the Steel City.

00:00 Good afternoon everybody it's Alistair from the Sheffield Star reporting on the nationwide IT
00:03 glitch that is causing some Greggs across the country to have to close because they can't
00:07 process customer transactions. We came into Sheffield City Centre to see if the problem
00:11 had spread here. They're fine. Earlier today Greggs confirmed several stores nationwide had
00:19 closed reportedly including in Sheffield and as well as London and Birmingham. An IT glitch which
00:24 meant stores could not process transactions were leading them to have to take cash only or close
00:28 outright. Strangely enough it comes after outages at Sainsbury's and Tesco on Saturday and McDonald's
00:34 last Friday in a similar manner. There are 14 Greggs in Sheffield and the Star was unable to
00:38 track down which had closed or had any troubles at all but I was happy to walk the Greggs line
00:42 in Sheffield City Centre to see if all five of them were fine. The police were on hand in case
00:46 any riots broke out but transactions were processing as normal.
