00:00Hello everybody. I wondered if you'd like to come with me on a short walk through Sharrowvale Road.
00:05This is no more than it's been a lovely couple of warm weeks here in Sheffield and I've personally
00:10been using that time to go on lengthy walks in the Nether Edge and Sharrow area. So I grabbed
00:15my camera phone and thought I'd show you some of the shops that are available here on this street
00:19because it's a wonderful hub of independent businesses and a place you should absolutely
00:23visit for yourself. Do you know what? You can spend an hour just on this. So here's the yard,
00:29which is a great antique shop here on Steel Road. It's closed right now but and if you were done
00:33with that what you have to do is cross the road and you find yourself at Gilbert and Sons which is
00:38this awesome like sprawling reclamation yard. They've got literally everything in there. I've
00:42taken my mum here. I've got things that are in my house right now that I bought there and now hang
00:46as decoration. It's uh it's really all yours just to explore. Man I love this place.
00:53They've got everything here. Another one of those cats again.
01:07Yeah we're sort of in the nerve center of Sharrowvale Road here. It's just a row of really
01:11really great businesses uh just starting from about here. We've got Porterbrook Deli um like
01:17Porterbrook Pets here and Sharrowvale Hardway here are just like infinitely useful between them. I can't
01:22think of anywhere you can just buy like a simple set of nails or a mousetrap these days. Now Wilco's
01:26is closed. Um hang on we'll keep walking. I can't even do all of it. I have to like stop and look at
01:31the other side of the street because here's made by John T and the Hummingbird which are two wonderful
01:35shops that are just on this side. Um back to the other side though. It's actually like rush hour right
01:39now. This is like when the school gets out so everyone starts to pile up around here and the
01:43shops really come alive. Um doesn't mean there are a lot of cars in the way though.
01:46All right here we go. So even just here we've got the street food shop which is wonderful.
01:51We've got Eve's Kitchen which has really developed itself in the past two years. It was originally
01:54doing luxury coffee and donuts but now it's like really a real nerve center uh that sprawls across
02:00four whole shops and each one has something different to offer. You've got the convectionaries
02:04of uh Pom Kitchen which are really quite famous on Instagram. Uh Refill Tree is doing a great job.
02:09You know zero waste you bring empty things and you get to fill them up here.
02:12Uh I haven't even stopped to say about Porta Brook Pizza. Like Porta Pizza is where I go to grab
02:16like a stone bake and take it to Encliffe Park and sit in the sun uh on nice weekends. That's a really
02:21good place to go. And it just looks so nice today. I've got the florists over there. I've bought like
02:26presents from my mum there. Um that's the second of quite a few like vegan shops or like uh organic
02:33shops. Like Bower Organics was back there. I didn't even stop to linger on it. Um I don't know what that
02:37one's called. It just says coffee sarnies and snacks but I've been there too and it's absolutely smashing.
02:42There's a butcher's there that does things for really good quality and good prices.
02:46Greedy Greek. I've eaten there as well. It's one of the only Greek restaurants I know in the city.
02:51I'm going to take shelter by this fat dog for a minute. I released a painting of one. One of my
02:55favourite street pieces around here. I think I just wanted to show you a small part of Sharer Vale
02:59Road. It's this fantastic street shop. Lots of independent businesses here. It's a real chocolate
03:03box for you to enjoy. I don't know. You've got a bank holiday weekend coming up but if you've not
03:07treated yourself to come down here and try out one of the coffee shops or anything else around these parts,
03:11you really owe it to yourself. Just treat yourself to any of the businesses I've shown you today
03:14and then treat yourself to another hour just to stand around and soak up the scene.
03:19And yeah, it's a real thriving community. It's a real benefit to the city.
