00:00 Richard Lewis's friends and co-stars, including Larry David, are paying tribute to the late actor
00:04 and comedian. The star known for his role on Curb Your Enthusiasm died Tuesday night at his Los
00:10 Angeles home after suffering a heart attack. The actor revealed in April last year that he had been
00:15 living with Parkinson's disease and was retiring from stand-up. David, the star and creator of
00:19 Curb Your Enthusiasm, shared in a statement, "Richard and I were born three days apart in
00:23 the same hospital, and for most of my life he's been like a brother to me. He had that rare
00:27 combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob,
00:32 and for that I'll never forgive him." Curb Your Enthusiasm's Cheryl Hines also shared a heartfelt
00:36 tribute on Instagram, writing in part, "When I was young I had the biggest crush on Richard Lewis.
00:41 He was the funniest person on stage and the most handsome comedian. Then when I was cast on Curb
00:46 Your Enthusiasm I got to work with him and it was a dream come true. Through the years I learned who
00:50 Richard really was and the gifts he gave. Yes, he was the comedian I fell in love with, but he was
00:55 also one of the most loving people I know." His Anything But Love co-star Jamie Lee Curtis wrote
01:00 in part, "I remember exactly where I was when I saw a billboard of him about a stand-up special
01:04 on Sunset Boulevard when we were casting the ABC pilot Anything But Love and asked the casting
01:09 people to bring him in to audition to play my best friend/maybe boyfriend Marty Gold. He got
01:14 the part when I snort-laughed when he mispronounced the word 'buntcake.' He blew everyone else away."
01:19 She also wrote, "He also is the reason I am sober. He helped me. I am forever grateful for him for
01:24 that act of grace alone." And as Robin Hood Minentites co-star Cary Elwes shared on social
01:29 media, "No. We were literally just making plans to get together. Besides your remarkable talent,
01:34 there was no one sweeter or more generous than you, my friend. I miss you already and forever.
01:39 Rest in power, Richard. Our sincere condolences to Joyce, his family, and fans."
