00:00 Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:04 Residents of a rural Derbyshire community have called a public meeting next week to
00:07 demand answers from the County Council over a main access road that has been shut for
00:11 more than a year.
00:13 Leashaw links the villages of Deathwick, Leigh and Holyway with Crites to the east and Cromford
00:18 and the A6 to the west, but due to a landslip the road has been closed since December 2022.
00:25 The Parish Council is increasingly concerned with the length of time it is taking Derbyshire
00:29 County Council to reopen the routes to traffic and provide plans and timescale for full reinstatement.
00:35 Now it has invited representatives from the Council to address a meeting at the Florence
00:39 Nightingale Memorial Hall next Tuesday evening.
00:42 A spokesperson for the Parish said "The delay is having a massive impact on local
00:47 businesses and residents.
00:48 In addition, bus routes and farm traffic are currently diverted and emergency vehicle access
00:53 is impeded."
00:55 Derbyshire County Council insists that specialist civil engineers and geologists are actively
01:00 looking for a solution to fix the landslip and that until it has been designed it is
01:04 not possible to put a time frame on the repairs.
01:09 Police officers have helped capture missing sheep that ran away from home in a field in
01:13 Derbyshire.
01:14 Officers from the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit and Amber Valley Police joined forces
01:18 to bring back the little lost sheep after the animal went missing from a field in Hege
01:22 but was soon spotted on the road.
01:24 A spokesperson for Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit said "The slowest pursuit of the night
01:29 was brought to a sliff conclusion when staff from Amber Valley Police intercepted the subject.
01:34 Some fabulous sheep whispering and a makeshift harness helped return the runaway to a nearby
01:38 field safely."
