Energy Minister Andrew Bowie MP and David Morris MP visited Heysham 2 power station as part of National Apprentice week.

00:00 So David it's great to be here at Hesham, you must be so proud to have a facility like this in your constituency.

00:05 I am, I'm very proud of Hesham too. I have a brother-in-law that actually works here as well.

00:10 So you know it's in the family in that respect and also got Hesham One next door.

00:14 Nuclear is king in Morecambe and Loonestale, in fact energy is king in Morecambe and Loonestale.

00:18 And Minister it's very very good of you to come along and see what we do here.

00:22 Well I'm delighted to be here and even more delighted to meet the incredible workforce

00:26 that are committed over 1,300 people on site right now delivering energy to around 2 million homes.

00:31 I mean that's incredible.

00:33 It is and if you've come onto the car park today you've seen you can't get onto the car park.

00:37 It's the biggest employer in Morecambe and Loonestale and not just employment here in the nuclear power stations

00:43 but the educational facilities nearby all feed into the nuclear power industry.

00:47 And it's good that the government are investing strongly and heavily in nuclear power.

00:52 Yeah we are investing strongly in nuclear power. It's got a really bright future not just here in Hesham

00:57 but around the country and we know in the department that in you, David, they've got a huge strong champion

01:04 not just for this site but for the workforce at large and indeed everybody that supports this place.
