It's fine.
00:01
It's fine.
00:01
There's a paper on the wall.
00:02
Yeah.
00:03
Are you guys just having a conversation?
00:05
Oh, you're just working on something?
00:07
Yeah.
00:07
Just getting the photos.
00:08
Yeah.
00:09
OK.
00:09
So I like the idea.
00:12
Yeah.
00:14
Yeah.
00:16
OK.
00:17
Thank you.
00:18
Thank you.
00:19
Thanks.
00:20
Thanks.
00:21

Thanks.
00:40
Commissioner from the Parliament to the parliamentary general election,
00:43
Edgbaston constituency. I, Rob Connolly, being the Acting Lieutenant Officer of the
00:49
above election, do hereby give notice that the number of votes recorded for each
00:53
candidate at the said election is as follows. Gill, Pre-Court, Labour and
00:59
Co-operative Party, 16,599.
01:06
I must say, each and every one of you will agree that it's been an inspiration to see the young
01:13
member of the team, a 15-year-old, Sebastian, come out with us in the numbers that he did
01:20
and the amount of time and effort that he did put in.
01:24
Once again, the people of Corbyn and Malfi have spoken loud and clear, in line with what has been
01:33
demonstrated across the country tonight. They have put their trust in me and I will continue to
01:39
fight and be their voice in Parliament. They have voted for better living standards, a better NHS,
01:46
less school children to go to school hungry, better housing conditions, less age allowance
01:54
and hoping to account road providers. I will pledge to make sure that the 16-19
02:01
so transform is at the heart of the fight against apartheid.
02:06
And along with you, the stature of the youth service.
02:10
We understand that the people of Corbyn standing up for you is met with such reticence.
02:18
Anyway, this election has been...
02:28
Excuse me, before we have our first speeches, thanks for coming this morning.
02:34
We'll be asking you to now leave the premises.
02:41
This election has been the worst election I have ever stood in.
02:47
Today, a brilliant community activist who puts on events for every single part of our community
02:56
came out to campaign with me and people filmed her on the streets and then flashed her tyres.
03:06
A young woman on her own, delivering leaflets, was filmed and screamed at by a much older man in the street.
03:23
Today, I was to be joined by the family of Jo Cox who wanted to come out and campaign with me.
03:34
And there is absolutely no one I could have allowed for them to see what was aggressive and violence in our democracy.
03:48
And then, to the positive, Birmingham Yardley gave my family everything that we had.
03:59
And today, actually not today, yesterday, was the 30th anniversary of my mother dying.
04:04
And my mother was born in Glen Eagles Road in Yardley.
04:10
And my dad lived in a council house around the corner.
04:14
And everything good that they ever had, and everything good that my children had, that I had as a child,
04:22
was provided for us by successive Labour governments.
04:28
I know what a Muslim looks like. A Muslim looks like me.
04:35
I know what Muslim values are. Muslim values are mine. And they are British values too.
04:48
Decency. Respect. Kindness.
04:53
And in all this, let's not forget, today is a day of triumph.
05:03
They thought they could intimidate us, but they couldn't.
05:07
They thought they could silence us, but they couldn't.
05:11
They thought they could beat us, but they didn't.
05:15
We ran a positive campaign here in Ladywood.
05:22
We campaigned for change. Change here and change in our country.
05:28
I want to thank the people of Ladywood who chose to reject the politics of division and embrace the politics of hope.
05:36
They are a reminder of who we really are.
05:39
I'm very sorry to inform you folks, but nobody has ever succeeded in shouting me down and you won't stop now.
