01:13member of the team, a 15-year-old, Sebastian, come out with us in the numbers that he did

01:20and the amount of time and effort that he did put in.

01:24Once again, the people of Corbyn and Malfi have spoken loud and clear, in line with what has been

01:33demonstrated across the country tonight. They have put their trust in me and I will continue to

01:39fight and be their voice in Parliament. They have voted for better living standards, a better NHS,

01:46less school children to go to school hungry, better housing conditions, less age allowance

01:54and hoping to account road providers. I will pledge to make sure that the 16-19

02:01so transform is at the heart of the fight against apartheid.

02:06And along with you, the stature of the youth service.

02:10We understand that the people of Corbyn standing up for you is met with such reticence.

02:18Anyway, this election has been...

02:41This election has been the worst election I have ever stood in.

02:47Today, a brilliant community activist who puts on events for every single part of our community

02:56came out to campaign with me and people filmed her on the streets and then flashed her tyres.

03:06A young woman on her own, delivering leaflets, was filmed and screamed at by a much older man in the street.

03:23Today, I was to be joined by the family of Jo Cox who wanted to come out and campaign with me.

03:34And there is absolutely no one I could have allowed for them to see what was aggressive and violence in our democracy.

03:48And then, to the positive, Birmingham Yardley gave my family everything that we had.

03:59And today, actually not today, yesterday, was the 30th anniversary of my mother dying.

04:04And my mother was born in Glen Eagles Road in Yardley.

04:10And my dad lived in a council house around the corner.

04:14And everything good that they ever had, and everything good that my children had, that I had as a child,

04:22was provided for us by successive Labour governments.

04:28I know what a Muslim looks like. A Muslim looks like me.

04:35I know what Muslim values are. Muslim values are mine. And they are British values too.

04:48Decency. Respect. Kindness.

04:53And in all this, let's not forget, today is a day of triumph.

05:03They thought they could intimidate us, but they couldn't.

05:07They thought they could silence us, but they couldn't.

05:11They thought they could beat us, but they didn't.

05:15We ran a positive campaign here in Ladywood.

05:22We campaigned for change. Change here and change in our country.

05:28I want to thank the people of Ladywood who chose to reject the politics of division and embrace the politics of hope.

05:36They are a reminder of who we really are.

05:39I'm very sorry to inform you folks, but nobody has ever succeeded in shouting me down and you won't stop now.
