00:00 We've actually put crickets on a pizza before. Didn't really sell very well, but yeah, we just
00:05 kind of do something a bit different, just kind of push the boundaries really. Some of it works,
00:08 some of it doesn't, but it's just all part of the fun, isn't it?
00:11 National Pizza Day celebrates all things pizza for 24 hours, and lovers of the delicious dish
00:17 can devote a whole day to it on February 9th each year. Whether you're a classic margarita fan,
00:22 enjoy a white pizza, or perhaps something with a lot of different toppings, pizza can be made
00:28 in each and every way. The delicious cheesy carb is a perfect comfort food and dish to share with
00:34 friends, and it's no wonder it has a whole day dedicated to it. This year for National Pizza Day,
00:40 we thought we'd head down to one of Manchester's favourite beer and pizza places, Crazy Pedro's,
00:45 at its site in the Northern Quarter, the venue which sells food until 4am every day of the week.
00:51 We sampled some of the restaurant's quirky pizzas, including chicken and waffles,
00:55 and even one with ketchup, mustard and a hot dog.
00:58 It just ticks every box, doesn't it? It's just like comforting, it's also great the day after,
01:02 yeah it just kind of ticks every box really, you can sort of do whatever you want with it as well.
01:07 Every day's pizza day, without us being sort of cliche, but yeah every day's kind of National
01:10 Pizza Day at Pedro's. What sort of food do you want at that sort of time? I think it's very much
01:14 like that kind of, typically you maybe go like a kebab route or something like that, but why wouldn't
01:18 you want pizza until 4am I guess? Some of the flavours are kind of nostalgic flavours that you
01:22 typically have in other dishes, whether that be sort of the mac daddy, which is kind of a riff on
01:25 a big mac pizza or something like that. So it's kind of stuff, flavour combinations that people
01:30 are aware of and sort of aware they've tried before, but just not actually on a pizza. So
01:34 it kind of combined people's sort of two favourite foods really, and we just kind of have something
01:38 for everyone really, so it's one of those places you can kind of come in, grab a slice, grab a
01:41 beer, whatever you want, and just kind of the combinations, I don't think you'll ever see sort
01:45 of chicken, bacon, maple syrup, waffles and stuff like that on a pizza, so it's kind of just a bit
01:50 of a USP really. So hot dog pizza is your classic New York, obviously the New York style pizzas that
01:54 we do, but we thought we'd put kind of a New York hot dog thing on, so it's just kind of sliced hot
01:59 dogs, bits soaked in beer, and then it's ballpark mustard, ketchup and then sort of crispy onions
02:05 to finish off, and then the chicken and waffle is just your classic sort of breakfast, you know,
02:09 you kind of get chicken, waffles, bacon, maple syrup, so it's Belgian waffles, fried chicken,
02:15 sort of like streaky cured bacon, and then drizzled with maple syrup, it's pretty cool to be there.
02:20 Well I can't say I haven't celebrated National Pizza Day, and let's be honest, out of the two
02:24 favourite combinations we've got chicken and waffles and the hot dog one, definitely say the
02:28 chicken and waffles is my favourite, there's that element of like sweet that's really tasty,
02:33 not sure I can get on board with ketchup and mustard on a pizza, but for some people I just
02:39 don't think it's for me, but there's combinations for everyone here at Crazy Pedro, so definitely a
02:46 good chance to try out some new flavour combinations, and who knows what they'll do next.
