Sebastian Kole chats with The Hollywood Reporter on the Grammys red carpet and dishes on his nomination. Plus, he shares one song he thinks Usher has to perform during the Super Bowl 2024 halftime show.

00:08 Every time it's brand new, so this is great. Yeah, this is great.

00:12 What would it mean to win for this project, specifically?

00:15 Specifically for this project would mean a lot to me

00:18 because the song "Angel," I mean, it just... it meant so much to her.

00:23 It means a lot to me. Yeah, so just to win for this project would be absolutely amazing.

00:29 So much amazing music has come out in the past year.

00:31 Who's an artist that you were listening to on repeat in 2023?

00:35 John Baptiste. I listen to a lot of John Baptiste.

00:38 I listen to a lot of Brandy just because she's my friend and I listen to her a lot.

00:42 Also, this new kid named Trap Dickey.

00:45 I don't even... he's just a really dope kid named Trap Dickey. I like him a lot.

00:49 So yeah, but I try to listen to a lot of anything, really.

00:53 Now, this past year, writers and actors, you know,

00:56 went on strike to fight for better contracts, better conditions.

00:59 Do you think there's anything that recording artists and songwriters need to fight for?

01:04 Songwriters? Yes. Songwriters... songwriting is the best job in the world.

01:11 As a songwriter, I stand firm in saying I could not pick a better job.

01:15 We make... we don't make enough money, though.

01:18 We get paid dead last and we should fight to fix that.

01:21 But I love the job. All you guys out there, I do love this job.

01:25 Don't think... it's the best job in the world. We just get paid less.

01:27 Yeah. And what do you have coming up in 2024 that you're excited about?

01:32 Wow. Well, Usher's album's dropping next week.

01:36 I hope to be a part of that. Ragged Bone Man's album's dropping a little later this year.

01:40 I'm excited to be a part of that. So a lot of things are just kind of up in the air

01:43 and you never know until they drop. So... but lots of projects I've been working on.

01:48 Now, Usher performing at the Super Bowl next weekend.

01:50 What's one song that you think has to make his set list?

01:53 His least favorite song. Yeah. He hates that song, but he has to perform it and we need to hear it.

01:59 That's going to be maybe either the song that starts it or the big finale.

02:03 That's going to be the moment. You need that. Everybody needs that.
