00:03 - Let's go to a wide receiver in Green Bay
00:04 because we have given some love,
00:06 no pun intended, to the quarterback.
00:08 And we do think that there's a bright future there,
00:10 but somebody's got to catch the football.
00:11 Who's it gonna be, Joe?
00:12 - Well, Jaden Reed was a guy catching a lot of footballs
00:15 and then Romeo Dobbs had some moments too.
00:18 But if we're talking about pure talent,
00:20 Christian Watson is that guy.
00:22 He is that game breaker.
00:24 And he was just never healthy all year.
00:25 He had the hamstring issues
00:27 and then re-aggravated the hamstring issues.
00:28 So I want to chalk up 2023 to not a year
00:32 where Jordan Love wasn't any good,
00:34 'cause he was, especially after
00:36 the second half of the season.
00:38 The guy was just tremendous.
00:39 He started limiting those turnovers.
00:41 You could see he was just a different,
00:42 more confident quarterback.
00:44 He was a quarterback that went into San Francisco
00:46 in the playoffs and almost came out with a victory.
00:49 And that's super impressive.
00:50 And he also had his victory in the playoffs.
00:52 So I want to give Jordan Love a lot of credit.
00:54 And also give him credit for knowing what he did wrong
00:57 at the end of that game.
00:58 No matter what happens,
01:00 which we talked about with Sam Howe
01:01 right in the last segment,
01:02 learn to fight another down,
01:04 sometimes throw the ball away,
01:05 sometimes take a sack,
01:06 sometimes it's better to live another down
01:08 than try to make a play.
01:10 And Jordan Love knew that.
01:11 But I think Jordan Love hasn't gotten the best
01:13 out of Christian Watson yet,
01:14 not because Jordan Love can't,
01:15 but because Christian Watson just wasn't physically able
01:17 to perform up to his standard.
01:20 Now, all of a sudden,
01:20 they become a really interesting offense
01:22 with those three wide receivers.
01:23 Depending on Aaron Jones' health
01:25 or what they do in terms of drafting running back,
01:26 we'll see.
01:28 But Jordan Love has a really good grouping here.
01:31 Jaden Reed was very solid.
01:33 Romeo Dobbs, good enough.
01:35 But Christian Watson is that guy who's that game breaker.
01:37 Christian Watson is the guy,
01:39 you hit him in stride, he is gone.
01:42 He is big, he is strong, he is fast.
01:43 He has all the things you're looking
01:45 for the prototypical 2024 wide receiver.
01:47 So Watson's a guy right now
01:49 that had some injuries in his rookie year.
01:51 Aaron Rodgers got something out of him.
01:53 It was pretty exciting.
01:54 There were some moments that were stunning.
01:56 But again, it was very efficient.
01:58 So the metrics don't love him necessarily.
02:00 They think, oh, it's not sustainable.
02:01 I think it's sustainable what Jordan Love.
02:03 And I think it even could grow into something better.
02:05 Now is the time to buy
02:07 because I think a healthy Christian Watson in 2024
02:10 could be a special one.
02:11 And the last guy on this list too,
02:13 that is really worth talking about,
02:14 actually two more wide receivers really.
02:16 Josh Downs of the Indianapolis Colts.
02:19 I continue to go on and on about
02:21 what the Colts potential is.
02:24 And it really is tied into Shane Steichen.
02:26 I am excited about this guy as a head coach.
02:28 I think when you removed him from the Eagles,
02:30 you saw just how important he was.
02:32 You saw the Colts with Gardner Minshew
02:35 become a playoff caliber team.
02:37 I don't think that was a small feat.
02:39 I think a lot of that had to do with the coaching.
02:41 And I think that Josh Downs is a receiver
02:43 that really fits the mold of the arm strength
02:47 of Anthony Richardson.
02:48 And the last guy to talk about is another wide receiver,
02:51 which is Quentin Johnson, who had his rookie year go,
02:53 I think as poorly as it possibly could.
02:55 Quentin Johnson is not a perfect wide receiver,
02:57 but when you go back and watch the tape at TCU,
03:00 there's things that Quentin Johnson does well,
03:02 but Brandon Staley just did not care.
03:04 The offensive coordinator just did not care.
03:07 So at the end of the day,
03:09 why you're not getting Quentin Johnson the ball in space
03:11 and letting him in place, I don't know.
03:13 You saw him have all these screen passes
03:14 that he would catch at TCU
03:16 and then get all the yards after catch.
03:18 That's what you need to do with him.
03:20 And I think Harbaugh coming fresh out of that college game,
03:23 seeing him play as much as he did,
03:25 understanding how to utilize the best
03:27 out of these young talents,
03:28 I think it'd be a really interesting dynamic,
03:30 especially as Keenan Allen gets older,
03:32 where Quentin Johnson might get more opportunities
03:34 and with a much better offensive mind in Harbaugh
03:37 to maybe unlock some of his better potential.
