00:00 In Surrey, British Columbia, the residence of Simratjit Singh, an associate of the pro-Khalistan
00:08 figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar, was targeted with multiple gunshots in the early hours
00:13 of Thursday morning.
00:14 Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed on June 18.
00:18 Eyewitnesses reported bullet-riddled vehicles at the home.
00:22 The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has also confirmed the incident, stating that
00:27 the shots were fired at the residence, but no injuries were reported.
00:32 The Surrey RCMP's Major Crime Section is now investigating the matter, deeming it as
00:36 an isolated incident with motives yet to be determined.
00:41 Simratjit Singh, identified as the homeowner, was recently seen protesting and organising
00:47 the protest at Vancouver, near the Indian consulate, on 26 January to protest against
00:52 the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, whom the Canadian government also labelled responsible
00:57 for Nijjar's killing.
00:59 Murinda Singh, a spokesperson from the British Columbia's Gurudwara Council and a prominent
01:03 separatist also suggest that Simratjit Singh believes that Indian state or actor could
01:07 be behind the incident to intimidate him from his activism.
01:12 And so, the connection between Simratjit Singh and Hardeep Singh Nijjar might also be considered
01:16 a potential factor.
01:18 For the unaware, the suspicious demise of Hardeep Singh Nijjar had already rocked the
01:22 boat for India-Canada relations.
01:25 The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had labelled the Government of India responsible
01:29 for the alleged killing because Nijjar has been designated as a terrorist in India.
01:35 And so, the RCMP is now investigating the matter, while the accusation of Indian involvement
01:39 has resurfaced, with the motive remain officially undetermined.
01:44 The attack is regarded as an isolated occurrence and the law enforcement continues its efforts
01:48 to establish the reason behind the violent event.
01:52 Who was behind the attack and what exactly was the motive is still something that the
01:56 only investigation will shed light upon.
01:58 A clearer picture of the circumstance surrounding the attack still needs to be examined.
