00:20 CIC's Fat White Saints rediscover took place under a Mayan inspired theme in terms of the
00:26 echo which apart from the stage featured a volcano that was a picture-taking stop for many patrons.
00:34 [Music]
00:37 Thousands turned up to be part of the event where there was more food than you could eat,
00:44 more drinks than you could drink,
00:48 [Music]
00:55 and just enough party for you to party.
00:59 [Music]
01:11 Queen of Bach and Aldastra Garcia who is celebrating 24 years in the industry
01:16 performed a wide set spanning about 40 minutes comprising new songs and old classics.
01:22 [Music]
01:33 She said the public's response to her new music is phenomenal having released songs like
01:38 Rosie, Soca Eden, Devotion and collaborations with Peter Ram and Carly Red.
01:43 Garcia described her experience performing at CIC this year.
01:47 What was the reception like? Well to be honest the crowd feels like they want you to entertain them.
01:54 The crowd feels like they've seen it all before. It's like impressed me and for me I was like okay
02:02 I'm gonna give you some new stuff, I'm gonna give you some of this, some of that, but they just love
02:07 the classics so much it frustrates me really because there are songs that I want to take out of my set
02:14 and I just can't because the people just love it.
02:17 We also caught up with Vincent Jansoka Artis, Skinny Fabulous in the Artis tent.
02:22 This is my second event. I flew in yesterday. My first event was this morning.
02:27 This is the second event for the season. Wow so you started hot.
02:31 Yeah, yeah, so I get thrown in the belly of the beast and I like it you know.
02:35 Typically speaking you'd have like the little small build up fits.
02:39 I wasn't able to do those but so we're jumping in and the aim is to make sure people have an appreciation for the new music.
02:47 As for Lyrical. Tell me how are you feeling tonight and what are you anticipating?
02:53 I'm feeling amazing. I want to ask you a question. How do I look?
02:56 You look fantastic. Thank you, that's how I'm feeling.
03:00 But yeah, just happy to be here another year. You know CIC, St Mary's has a fed that we do for years.
03:06 You know I'm just grateful to be here to engage with the people, sing for the people, see their faces, see their hands, hear their voices.
03:13 His performance sparked bursts of energy among the large crowd.
03:30 [Music]
03:32 We do the same songs since Summertime so when you check all of it it's like about 8 songs.
03:39 And what songs do you think the people have been most receptive to?
03:42 I have a song called Stick On and the sign wave rhythm.
03:46 [Music]
03:48 No separation, I'm myself a Nailah, I'm best self. Show them your best self, jump with all of your best friends.
03:54 Oh, give me your everything.
03:58 [Music]
04:00 Wife of Prime Minister Rowley, Sharon Rowley, gave a thumbs up to the wide variety of drinks, food and what she called fantastic deco.
04:12 As for the artistes?
04:14 The artistes have been good. I think that this year we are looking forward to getting some more new tunes. But so far it's been good.
04:25 And do you have a favourite artist in terms of anyone that you're looking forward to performing tonight?
04:30 Mikal has performed already and I suspect that will be our own march.
04:37 Other patrons share their thoughts on the fact with us.
04:40 The food is great, the vibe is great, everything.
04:45 And our favourite artist tonight?
04:47 So far, Patrice.
04:50 The food was top. I give it 10 out of 10. Yeah, I think I had everything.
04:57 Everything?
04:59 Alright, yeah, 90%.
05:01 So right now we are by the caribou here at CIC.
05:06 She has so much vibe.
05:09 Alright, so how are you enjoying the festival?
05:11 I love it. Best festival ever.
05:14 Do you have a favourite food? What do you enjoy?
05:16 The crab dumplings. Every year.
05:20 Fashion was also in the mix as women dressed to impress.
05:27 It was a bucket list undertaking for one patron who said her expectations were exceeded.
05:36 So is this something that you think you will be attending in future years?
05:40 Once finances allow, I will, yes.
05:45 One VIP patron who also attended for the first time shared his opinion as he rated the food 12 out of 10
05:53 but didn't feel the same way about the VIP experience.
05:56 I can't say that they had a clear differentiation between VIP and regular tickets.
06:03 So since it didn't have that, that's how I'll rate it as a 7 for me. For me personally.
06:10 Every year, Ranjan Charles leaves his home in St. Lucia to visit Trinidad just to attend Fete with the Saints.
06:17 What do you think about this particular Fete night?
06:20 Definitely this year there's more food.
06:22 More food?
06:23 Yeah, the food didn't run out. And the bars, the bars were flowing, definitely.
06:28 Lynette Stevenson is another regular. She enjoyed most elements of Rediscover except for one.
06:35 The music is not very good this year, I must say. But it has been a good experience.
06:42 What do you miss about the music?
06:44 To me, it has lost its creativity. It's a sameness.
06:51 And maybe I've reached the age where I don't appreciate it.
