00:03 Financial fair play rules and how that relates to Nottingham Forest and Everton,
00:08 who are kind of being charged for violating some of these rules.
00:11 Can you tell me a little bit, what are the rules?
00:14 How are these clubs potentially in violation?
00:16 And what might the penalty be?
00:18 I know Everton, for example, has already been docked 10 points in the table
00:23 for previous violations.
00:25 If they have another penalty, could they actually wind up getting regulated,
00:28 not because of anything they do on the pitch,
00:31 but because of things that they do in the front office?
00:34 I mean, it's a really complicated issue,
00:38 but what they're investigating in the Premier League is a breach in financial fair play.
00:42 In short, without wanting to bore you too much, Dane,
00:45 within a three-year period, clubs are allowed to spend,
00:48 or cannot spend, rather, more than £130 million.
00:53 So if they go over that, then they obviously have to be investigated,
00:58 and there is this possibility of either points deduction,
01:01 or people have talked about relegation or a fine.
01:04 So in Everton's case, they did over-supersede that amount,
01:08 and for that result, they were deducted 10 points,
01:11 which, by the way, is the biggest points deduction in the history of the Premier League.
01:15 Now, they are being investigated another set of three years,
01:20 so in the past three years, and things aren't looking good for Everton.
01:24 There could seriously be another sanction, possibly a points deduction,
01:28 and the same for Nottingham Forest, and also Manchester City are also being investigated,
01:32 which is a whole other complicated issue,
01:36 but we've got to try not to get too much into that.
01:38 But yes, potential more points deductions could be coming.
01:41 Things don't look great for either side at the moment, so interesting.
01:45 That is absolutely interesting.
01:48 Now, I know big-time clubs have succumbed to these kind of rules
01:51 before Juventus comes to mind in years past,
01:54 but you mentioned Man City.
01:56 Meh, there's no way on God's green earth that they are actually going to relegate
02:03 or hold sanctions against Man City, right?
02:06 And the Etihad, no.
02:08 It's a tricky one.
02:09 I mean, you think of the consequences, the repercussions that it would have,
02:12 you know, such a team that's so important for English football now
02:15 because of what it means for their success in Europe, etc., etc.,
02:18 and the consequences would be massive.
02:20 But, dame, they're investigating 105 potential breaches in financial fair play,
02:26 so that's massive.
02:27 So who knows what could happen, but I'm sure there will be consequences.
02:30 I'm just not sure what they will be exactly.
