00:00 A bus caught fire in Wimbledon Hill on Thursday January 11th at 7.20am. The Met Police has
00:07 advised people to avoid the area. You can see where the fire has damaged the back of
00:13 the bus. A fairly large hole has been burnt through the rear of the vehicle and glass
00:18 windows around where the fire took place have been smashed. A spokesman for the London Fire
00:24 Brigade confirmed that the double-decker electric bus caught fire and now a 25-metre
00:30 cordon has been put in place as a precaution. Tom Cunnington, Transport for London's head
00:35 of bus business development, said that safety is the top priority and TfL are working with
00:41 the operator, London General and the bus manufacturer to investigate what happened. The bus was
00:47 quickly evacuated. Police at the scene said the area around the bus had been cleared as
00:52 a precaution against the unlikely event of the fire reigniting. The bus is expected to
00:58 be moved to an open-air area where more investigations can take place.
