00:00 It's Thursday 11th January and here's a round-up of the news in the North West.
00:05 Lidl has announced its store on Churchill Way Retail Park in Leyland is to close on February 29th.
00:12 The German retailer says the site is no longer fit for purpose and is actively looking for alternative locations in the area.
00:20 In Cleveland, council bosses have given the green light for a new cafe to open in the former Muriel and May gift shop in Victoria Road West.
00:30 The new venue will not be allowed to sell hot food but will be allowed to offer outdoor seating at the front of the property.
00:38 In Wigan, a man found armed with an ice pick and a baseball bat while flouting a driving ban has been sent to prison.
00:47 Gary O'Shea, 33, from Ratham Avenue, Ince, was found with the weapons and a quantity of cocaine in a Vauxhall Astra on January 3rd.
00:57 He was sentenced to 28 weeks in prison.
01:01 In Burnley, the late fixture change of the game between the Clarets and Luton Town has been slammed by a leading fans group.
01:08 Due to an FA Cup replay for the Hatters, the match against Burnley has been changed with only five days notice.
01:15 The Football Supporters Association said it wasn't good enough for those who had already made travel arrangements from the North West.
01:23 There has been a bid to further extend the lives of the Heysham power stations.
01:28 Energy company EDF say that they want Heysham 1 to run until 2026 and Heysham 2 until 2028.
01:36 Around 1,400 people work at both sites.
01:40 And the weather. It's dry and bright across much of the North West today, but feeling chilly with highs of 7.
01:46 Tonight will remain dry with temperatures dipping to -2.
