What was Darlington Methodist Church, is now a fantastic events venue and is now taking bookings , after a refurbishment that should secure the future of the building going forward.

00:00 Welcome to a sneak preview of the Grand Palace in Wolverhampton.

00:05 The Grand Palace was previously known as the Darlington Street Methodist Church.

00:11 So it's a Grade 2 star listed building. It was in a very bad state of repair,

00:22 needing lots of money to be spent on it. It was also in the top 10 at-risk buildings in the

00:28 whole of the UK. But with the good Lord's grace we've managed to transform the building

00:34 into something that I think everyone will be very happy to see the changes that have taken place.

00:41 And you guys are originally from Wolverhampton, so this building was on your register. You know,

00:47 you were quite passionate about the building. Just anyway, weren't you? You appreciate the

00:52 beauty of it from, that's fair to say. That's correct. I was born in the Whitmer Enes

00:58 and the first day we entered the building and seen the building, I just fell in love with it

01:04 straight away. So the dance floor is a bit special as well, as you'll see on the video. It's an

01:10 infinity lit dance floor which can change colour, as can the lights in the ceiling, to suit whatever

01:16 need you want. So people are definitely going to have a good time grooving on that one for sure.

01:25 You are open for bookings. People can come and take a look for getting ready for the

01:29 wedding season, is that right? That's correct, yes. We're open, fully open now. Just got the

01:35 final finishing touches to do, but we're taking bookings now for the wedding season. And if people

01:59 And what can you, obviously weddings, but I guess you're open to any suggestions aren't you? If

02:04 people want to hire this as a venue for, you know. So it's weddings and a banqueting suite, so it can

02:10 be weddings, birthdays, christenings, civil ceremonies, we're open to any suggestion. So

02:17 whether people want to have an artist here, concerts, happy. So we can rearrange it to

02:24 suit their needs.
