Rainham residents calling for Royal Mail improvements following Christmas delays

Royal Mail has said they have been been working hard to ensure mail arrived in time for the big day

00:13 rainy Rhenham today speaking to shoppers to find out if their Christmas cards

00:16 arrived in time for the big day. Have you had any issues with post? I have found this Christmas that

00:21 the post has been quite slow and some days I've been expecting to get post and it hasn't arrived.

00:26 Well when it did come we had a large pile so that was quite nice to see and I don't think we waited

00:33 up after Christmas. I'm not angry, festive period. If the mail comes in clusters every four or five

00:40 days that's fine with me. They need to employ more people because my friend works for Royal Mail

00:47 and she said they were just absolutely overrun, not even just Christmas, but they're leading up

00:52 to it. It seems that it's a little bit like buses, there's no buses and then they all come at once.

00:58 We didn't suffer at all, we had plenty of post. Well it seems many shoppers in Rhenham today

01:04 aren't happy with Royal Mail. Their Christmas cards arrive late. Well we approached Royal Mail

01:08 for a statement and they sent us this. They told us their teams have been working extremely hard

01:14 over the Christmas period to ensure that Christmas cards and other letters arrive in time across Kent.

01:19 They also said we can confirm mail continues to be delivered to homes daily throughout the county

01:23 with the vast majority arriving on time. When a delay has occurred such as when a route has not

01:28 been completed we are prioritising those areas to ensure any delays are kept to a minimum. Well the

01:35 Christmas period is now over, pressure on Royal Mail should be down. Many are hoping that the
