00:00 We said goodbye to many well-known names in 2023, from iconic singers to distinguished actors
00:06 and beloved friends. Here's a look at some of the stars we lost this year.
00:10 At the beginning of the year, on January 12th, Lisa Marie Presley died after suffering cardiac
00:19 arrest just days after attending the Golden Globes with her mother. The singer-songwriter
00:23 and only child of Elvis Presley was 54. On January 25th, Laverne & Shirley star Cindy
00:29 Williams passed away at the age of 75. Raquel Welch, the actress who turned a
00:33 doe-skinned bikini into one of the most iconic cinematic images of the 1960s,
00:38 died on February 15th. She was 82. On April 27th, we said goodbye to Jerry Springer,
00:44 the former Cincinnati mayor who became America's most controversial talk show host. He passed away
00:49 at the age of 79. The next month, the trailblazing Tina Turner, whose music, moves, and triumph over
00:55 domestic abuse made her a feminist icon, died on May 24th. She was 83. Oscar-winning actor Alan
01:01 Arkin died at the age of 89 on June 29th. Though Arkin's career spanned over decades, he was most
01:06 recently known for Little Miss Sunshine and The Kominsky Method. In July, singer, storyteller,
01:12 and showman Tony Bennett passed away on July 21st. Bennett's impact on the pop and jazz landscape
01:17 spanned 70 years. He was 96. Later that month, on July 26th, the Irish singer Sinead O'Connor
01:24 died at 56. The Price is Right host Bob Barker died on August 26th. The game show Legend was 99.
01:30 Then, on September 2nd, singer and Margaritaville businessman Jimmy Buffett passed away at 76.
01:37 On October 28th, the world said farewell to one of our favorite friends, Matthew Perry. The actor
01:42 who played the lovably snarky Chandler Bing on Friends also struggled with substance abuse for
01:46 decades. He was found dead in a hot tub at his L.A. home. He was 54. Norman Lear, the writer and
01:52 producer behind some of TV's biggest sitcoms such as All in the Family, Maud, Good Times,
01:58 and The Jeffersons died on December 5th at the age of 101. And then recently, on December 11th,
02:04 two-time Emmy winner Andre Brouwer, best known for the shows Homicide, Life on the Street,
02:08 and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, died at 61 from lung cancer. Other notable deaths of 2023 include
02:14 Suzanne Somers, Lynn Goodman, Ron Cephas Jones, Paul Rubens, Angus Cloud, and Richard Roundtree,
