Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner Andrew Snowden with a crime update, and Christmas message
Transcript
00:00 Hi, I'm Andrew Snowden, Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner and I want to take
00:05 the opportunity at the start of this weekly update video to wish you all a very Merry
00:12 Christmas indeed and all the best wishes for 2024.
00:15 Over the Christmas period, many police officers, staff and other blue light services will be
00:20 working hard, missing their time with their family and friends to keep us safe over the
00:26 Christmas period and through into New Year.
00:29 We have an additional policing presence across Lancashire over Christmas and the New Year.
00:34 Everything from the campaign to target, drink and drug drivers, all the way through to the
00:39 extra officers policing our night time economy to keep everyone safe who's on a night out.
00:44 We've just launched our walk away campaign basically.
00:47 If you see trouble on a night out, if you see things happening, just walk away.
00:52 De-escalate things and keep everyone safe because we want everyone to get home from
00:56 the end of a night out safely back to their family and loved ones.
01:01 The same with our roads, make a plan ahead, book a taxi, use public transport but if you're
01:07 out for a drink, don't get behind the wheel.
01:09 We've already seen scores of arrests as part of the Christmas campaign for drink and drug
01:13 driving so do not let it be you.
01:16 Do not let it be you that either gets caught or ruins yours or somebody else's lives.
01:22 Well, let's end on a happy note.
01:24 Christmas is a wonderful, glorious time so I want to wish you all, from me and my family
01:29 to you and yours, the very, very best wishes for the festive period.
