Jurgen Klopp’s long-term future at Liverpool assessed

00:00 And we've discussed Mohamed Salah's long-term future, but what about Jurgen Klopp?

00:05 Obviously, Liverpool boss, contract ending in 2026, I believe.

00:09 What's the sort of look into his long-term future at the club?

00:14 It's always in the back of your mind, you know, when you see your managers doing well,

00:21 you think, 'Could they be the next Liverpool manager?'

00:23 Just because it's going to be so difficult to replace him whenever he does leave.

00:27 Obviously, you know what he said, he signed the contract in 2022 to keep the club until 2026.

00:34 And at that time, he said he felt refreshed and, you know,

00:38 he was looking forward to the challenge ahead and he knew last season was going to be a struggle.

00:42 And, you know, at the end of last season, he was looking forward to, you know, a rebuild.

00:46 And he's branded Liverpool 2.0 now, so it depends how long he wants this Liverpool 2.0 to go on, really.

00:53 I think Jurgen Klopp could stay at Liverpool for as long as he wants,

00:58 especially if he continues to deliver results.

01:02 But it comes down to how long he mentally wants to stay, really, in one job.

01:06 And does he maybe want to go and manage Germany in the future one day?

01:09 Does he want to have a new challenge maybe in Spain, potentially?

01:12 Or does he want to maybe, you know, buy a Munich maybe in the future?

01:18 Depends on what happens to Thomas Hüttl or somewhere else, you never know.

01:23 So, yeah, it's always an interesting one, that, because I think Liverpool,

01:28 you have to say that the hierarchy are always keeping an eye out on who might be the successors to Jurgen Klopp.

01:35 But again, you know, it wouldn't be a surprise the way he is and the way, you know, he's acting no different if tomorrow,

01:43 we feel like, you know what, I'm going to sign a new contract to keep the club even longer.

01:47 But that will be the challenge long term.

01:49 Obviously, you know, Alexis Roberto deserves to be mentioned and Xabi Alonso doing well at Bayer Leverkusen.

01:56 Getting Potter as one before he took the Chelsea job and then obviously, I'll say, be well out of the fray now.

02:02 It'll just be interesting what happens with that or maybe, you know, do you promote from within?

02:07 Do you give Pep Linz a chance as the assistant manager and think, well, he's been there with Klopp for how long?

02:11 Do we give him a chance? Will we promote him?

02:16 But for now, you know, Jurgen Klopp's sole task is to make sure that Berlin challenge him for silverware again.
