NEWS: PM splits Communications and Digital Ministry

The Communications and Digital Ministry has been split into two, with Gobind Singh Deo as the digital minister and Fahmi Fadzil the communications minister. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim explains the reasoning behind the move.

00:07 And the criticism that has been levied against us is that while some of the policies are

00:13 impressive, the communications to impart and disseminate the information has not been that

00:23 effective or satisfactory.

00:25 So there must be this focus.

00:27 The issue of digital transformation is a major focus of this government and it has to be

00:38 conducted in a manner that is mainly focused.

00:45 The issue of digital is challenging, is changing.

00:48 There are new data centres, new interest in AI, the need to enhance the understanding

00:57 of students at various levels.

01:00 So it's a very challenging task and I believe that to focus on this particular issue is

01:06 daunting for us.
