Glasgow headlines 11 December: Man has died following East End fire

A 59-year-old man has died following a house fire in the city’s East End.

The fire service received reports of a blaze on Ardgay Street in Shettleston on the evening of 9 December, and they have confirmed that the next of kin has been informed.

They are now working with Police Scotland in a joint investigation into the incident.

Next up, The Pen Shop in Princes Square has announced its closure after 35 years in business.

The family-run store was one of the first shops to enter the shopping centre when it opened in 1988 and has served some well-known customers including Billy Connolly and Nicola Sturgeon.

The team said rising overhead costs were to blame.

And in other news, the popular Dundee act The View will be supporting Liam Gallagher at his OVO Hydro shows next June.

Kyle Falconer’s band will open the show for the former Oasis frontman for two sold out dates, where Gallagher will perform the album Definitely Maybe in full.
