00:00 [WIND BLOWING]
00:02 The thing I love about walking in nature and walking in the national parks
00:20 is the serenity. And coming into these areas you feel so relaxed,
00:27 you feel so at ease. The stress just seems to melt away.
00:32 The Recharging Nature project, we're so excited. It's amazing. BMW is so proud to announce that
00:40 we are undertaking a partnership with the national parks in the UK. It's a three-year partnership
00:45 to improve the electric vehicle charging infrastructure,
00:49 but also to work on biodiversity and other sustainability projects within the parks.

00:56 The Lake District is the first national park to try this blueprint of rolling out electric
01:08 vehicle charging points with BMW. And after that, it'll be extended to all 15 national parks here
01:14 in the UK. So we're choosing the locations based on where we know visitors come to the national
01:20 park and where we know there are currently very limited opportunities for charging.
01:25 So we're filling in some of those charging deserts.
01:28 I enjoy cycling in the national park for the fantastic views of the landscape.
01:35 I also enjoy the feeling of the fresh air and, of course, the challenge of the hill.
01:47 The Recharging Nature fund is the second strand of the partnership,
01:51 whereby BMW is supporting the national parks in projects that will have a positive impact,
01:57 whether that be biodiversity, conservation, access, all those things that will improve the parks for
02:05 not only the flora and fauna, but also the people that are coming to visit the parks.
02:14 The impact projects are selected from the national parks existing nature restoration
02:18 programs, and the partnership with BMW is helping to accelerate those.
02:23 First project is in the South Downs. It's called the Dew Ponds Project,
02:27 and it's helping restore low-lying areas where farmers used to create wetlands
02:32 for livestock to graze. And these have become very important habitats.
02:36 And with climate change, these are starting to disappear a little.
02:39 So the project is seeking to restore these.
02:42 I think just getting out in the water, you see the landscape differently,
02:46 and also just time to yourself and generally switch off from
02:50 the things that might be causing you stress in a day-to-day life.
