00:00 So I saw the film and I loved it.
00:02 Congrats on this project.
00:05 So this movie's set in 2006.
00:07 I love all the music.
00:08 Barry, are you shocked as I am
00:10 that this is now considered a period piece of sorts
00:12 because I'm feeling kind of old.
00:14 - Yeah, 2006, man, wow.
00:17 That does make me feel old.
00:18 - Makes me feel old, yeah.
00:19 (laughing)
00:21 - Yeah.
00:22 - Now--
00:23 - It's considered a period piece, you say?
00:24 - I mean, it could be, you know?
00:26 - Jeez.
00:27 - Yeah, I was seven.
00:29 I was like eight.
00:31 What age are you?
00:32 - We're close.
00:32 - Yeah.
00:33 And Jacob, so you've had to tackle
00:37 so many different accents in your roles,
00:40 a British one here, an American one in Euphoria,
00:42 and of course your Elvis voice.
00:45 Which one has been the hardest to master?
00:47 - You know, I actually think this one
00:49 was probably the trickiest
00:50 'cause I was surrounded by Brits the whole time.
00:54 So there's a--
00:55 - And Irish.
00:55 - And Irish.
00:56 - Just saying.
00:57 - No, I wasn't too worried about
00:58 Barry's perspective on my accent.
01:00 But when you have Rosamund Pike in the room,
01:02 it's definitely terrifying when you're doing her voice.
01:05 - And Barry, there's been some Oscar buzz
01:09 surrounding this film.
01:10 How has that felt for you?
01:11 - It has.
01:12 - And really sunk in?
01:13 - Wait, wasn't I called Oscar last night?
01:14 - You were called Oscar nominated.
01:16 - Oh, Oscar nominated.
01:17 That's, yeah.
01:18 No, that's, you know what?
01:19 That's pretty cool.
01:21 It is.
01:22 It's, your reaction to it has been great,
01:24 and if that comes, it comes.
01:25 But yeah, I don't know what way to answer that really.
01:29 You know what I mean?
01:30 It's always, but yeah.
01:32 - This film also features a lot of complex characters.
01:35 Jacob, what do you think it is
01:36 about these types of characters,
01:38 whether it be rich, unlikable types,
01:40 or more calculating characters
01:42 like Barry's character Oliver
01:44 that's so fascinating for audiences to watch?
01:47 - I mean, they're all human beings,
01:49 and I think people try to hide
01:50 those sort of dark (beep) places in themselves.
01:54 And I think these characters
01:56 bring those parts of ourselves to light.
01:58 - Wow.
01:59 - You like that?
02:00 - Love that.
02:01 - Yeah.
02:01 - I'm gonna take that one for my solo.
02:04 (laughing)
02:06 - And Barry, what was it like working
02:07 with Emerald on this project?
02:09 Were you a fan of her past work?
02:11 - Yeah.
02:11 I was a massive fan of Emerald's,
02:13 and she was definitely on my list.
02:16 And, you know, so when the opportunity came about,
02:19 I jumped on it.
02:20 But yeah, I mean, getting to work with everyone on this
02:23 is, you know, I was kind of a fan boy.
02:26 That kind of goes out the window after a few hours.
02:29 But yeah, I was blessed.
02:31 It was an incredible experience, yeah.
02:33 - And Jacob, I know Margot Robbie
02:36 was one of the producers on this film.
02:37 What was it like working with her on this?
02:40 - Oh, Margot's the best, you know?
02:42 Goes without saying.
02:43 She's, we were led by like an incredible team of people.
02:48 So it's kind of same as Barry.
02:50 Just sort of pinching myself the whole time
02:51 that I was there.
02:52 - Yeah.
02:53 - I couldn't believe I was working with Jacob Elordi.
02:55 - I couldn't believe I was working with Barry Keoghan.
02:57 - No, honestly.
03:00 - Barry, fans love seeing you as the Joker and the Batman.
03:05 Can you share any updates?
03:07 Will we get to see you in this role again?
03:09 - Do you know what?
03:12 I can't really answer that, but I can, but no, I can't.
03:16 But no, it's, I mean, I've obviously,
03:20 I enjoyed my time on that and, you know,
03:23 it's an iconic part to play and, but yeah,
03:28 I'd love to obviously see it go forward
03:29 and we'll see what happens.
03:32 - We'll see what the future holds.
03:35 What drew you both to playing Oliver and Felix?
03:38 I feel like they're such different characters
03:40 and departures from the past characters
03:42 that you both played.
03:46 - I mean, you know, Emerald was the draw for me.
03:51 You know, I wanted to work with Emerald
03:52 and, you know, that was the kind of,
03:55 you know, the reason I stepped on.
03:59 And obviously, you know, when a director approaches you
04:01 with telling you that they had you in mind from the start,
04:04 it's kind of a nice feeling.
04:07 So, I mean, the character itself is challenging.
04:11 It's a showcase for a young actor.
04:14 It's a part that, you know, you get to kind of,
04:17 you know, really elevate yourself.
04:19 And so, I mean, it was all there for me, all there.
04:22 - And what about you, Jacob?
04:25 - Yeah, Em was, she was like very specific
04:30 and very vague in the first meeting we had
04:33 about what it was gonna be,
04:34 but it was just based off of our first conversation
04:37 before I even knew what the movie was,
04:39 I knew I was gonna go in and play, you know,
04:41 whatever she would let me play in a movie.
04:43 She's really one of the best, you know,
04:47 and we just had the time of our lives.
04:50 - And then could you both describe the film in three words?
04:54 - Exhilarating.
04:55 - Sexy.
04:57 - Charming.
04:58 - Sexy.
04:59 - Cinema. - Sexy.
05:01 And yeah, proper sexy.
05:05 Like proper, proper, proper sexy.
05:08 Not because I'm in it, but like, no, yeah,
05:11 because I'm in it.
05:12 - Yeah, he's in it, yeah.
05:14 - I mean that dance scene,
05:15 you kind of really put your all into it.
05:18 - I did, indeed.
05:20 I did.
05:20 - He's got the moves.
05:21 - I've got the moves.
05:22 I didn't know I had the moves, you know what I'm saying?
05:24 But--
05:24 - There was a little bit of fussy in there.
05:26 - Yeah, but no, I was quite the challenge,
05:29 but after the first take, I was, you know,
05:32 Emeril kind of creates a really comfortable set
05:34 for you to try these things.
05:36 It's not a normal thing to get out and dance in your nude,
05:40 but again, if it moves the story forward
05:42 and creatively it's for the right reasons,
05:45 well then I'm doing it.
05:46 But I definitely wanted to challenge myself as an actor
05:49 and kind of show maturity in taking that step.
05:53 But I had fun.
05:56 I had fun doing it.
05:57 (upbeat music)
06:00 (upbeat music)
06:04 (upbeat music)
06:06 (upbeat music)
