00:00 Various resolutions were discussed and proposed for the peace and stability of the region
00:06 in the 31st Annual Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum
00:11 led by the 11th National Assembly.
00:14 We are surprised by Daniel Banalastas.
00:16 Welcome to the Philippines.
00:20 Welcome to the Philippines.
00:22 Today, the 31st Annual Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum or APPF
00:29 was held by the 11 countries, including the Philippines,
00:32 where the lawmakers are invited.
00:34 Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and House Speaker Martin Rumaldes
00:39 were warmly received by the delegates
00:41 because the talks were heated,
00:43 just like the situation in the South China Sea.
00:45 On day one, we don't want to fight right away.
00:48 As hosts, we have to show respect to each and every country.
00:52 And I have to put this on record,
00:54 we are very happy that China came with a big delegation.
00:59 We want to stress the importance of enhancing maritime security
01:03 and the Indians to own clause.
01:05 While we might have a different opinion, let's say, with China,
01:09 that still does not preclude us from actually adhering to our beliefs
01:13 and the collective beliefs of those countries similarly placed.
01:16 Several resolutions were proposed for the peace and stability of the region,
01:21 including the draft resolution of Indonesia
01:24 for maritime security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific.
01:27 There are also resolutions to fight against crimes,
01:30 improve economic and trade,
01:32 capital development and inclusive growth,
01:34 regional cooperation for education,
01:37 prosperity, gender and sustainable development goals,
01:40 and many more.
01:42 It is expected that their resolutions will be combined
01:45 to form a position that will be acceptable to all countries.
01:49 Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri also said
01:52 that one of the things that the Philippines can use here
01:55 is the strengthening of tourism.
01:57 When they go home, they will tell their other parliaments
02:01 that the Philippines is beautiful, very progressive,
02:06 very kind, that's why Filipinos are loved by the whole world.
02:11 Earlier, during overlunch, they said that Filipinos are very popular
02:16 when it comes to the entertainment scene, food.
02:23 In addition to the issues in the West Philippine Sea,
02:25 Zubiri and Rumbaldes are also encouraging the Chinese delegates to talk.
02:30 Earlier, Zubiri also invited some of the delegates of the country
02:34 and one of the goals is the Code of Conduct
02:37 to avoid riots and blockades in the West Philippine Sea.
02:42 We will not fight them. So if we can convince them to change their policy
02:48 through the leaders, through the parliamentarians,
02:50 then that's a step forward.
02:52 Another good news was announced by Speaker Rumbaldes
02:55 regarding the target of the Philippines for a non-permanent seat
02:58 in the UN Security Council.
03:00 Yes, very, very optimistic. It's good that it's already here
03:03 because we just had lunch and we are already alone.
03:08 We have one more person and that's just on the first lunch.
03:12 And we'll be collaborating with our other friends in the region
03:18 for our candidature for the non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council.
03:25 We have one more person already, so right away, this forum is paying off dividends.
03:31 So we're very confident that with God's prayers and all of your support,
03:37 we shall be successful.
03:39 Speaker Rumbaldes also introduced the steps that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is taking,
03:45 especially in his work, including foreign investments.
03:49 We are in good terms with PBBM because he is a statesman par excellence.
03:56 He's at the top of his game.
03:58 Very, very learned. He has studied a lot of issues.
04:04 And his attitude is very kind and sympathetic.
04:08 That's why many world leaders are seeing that the Philippines is really different.
04:13 Daniel Manalastas for the nation.
