00:07 Emmy Award, comedian Veer Das has quite a journey.
00:11 Das secured the prestigious honour for his latest stand-up special, Landing, marking
00:16 his second nomination.
00:17 However, just months before the release of this special, he found himself embroiled in
00:23 the biggest controversy of his career, sparked by his '2 Indias' video.
00:28 Released online almost exactly two years ago, this video set the stage for a transformative
00:33 chapter in Veer Das' career.
00:36 A day prior to the ceremony in New York, Das took to Instagram to share a video in which
00:41 he highlighted the journey he has been on the last couple of years.
00:45 "The universe is a full circle so just wanted to say thanks and that if anyone out there
00:51 is ever in dark, stay till sunlight and know that the love will find you and the universe
00:56 will carry you,"
00:57 He captioned the video which included clips from Landing.

01:09 In the stand-up special, Das addressed the controversy that had erupted because of the
01:13 '2 Indias' video and narrated a story about returning to India after being labelled a
01:19 traitor.
01:20 He also revealed that the controversy affected him financially, with shows being cancelled
01:25 and being barred from performing in certain states.
01:29 Actor Kangana Ranaut called him a criminal.
01:32 Recently, he spoke about his identity and said, "I am a citizen of India.
01:38 Every fabric of my bink identifies as Indian but that doesn't mean that I identify with
01:43 your version of India.
01:45 There are too many versions of India for me to identify just one of them."
01:50 In November 2021, he was wrapping up a performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
01:56 when he decided to go back on stage and recite a poem he had written that morning, titled
