00:00 In recent years, advancements in agricultural technology have gradually become vital allies
00:07 to the farmers of China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
00:11 From planting to harvesting, mechanization and intelligent facilities have been widely
00:16 applied.
00:17 In Yuli County, Ai Haifeng and his colleague Lin Lei, both post-90s generation, oversee
00:23 about 200 hectares of cotton fields, which used to require around 25 to 30 laborers to
00:30 manage.
00:31 "Our super cotton fields are called unmanned farms.
00:37 The biggest difference between us and traditional cotton fields is that we don't use a lot
00:41 of labor to plant.
00:43 We only use two people to manage these 3,000 acres of farmland.
00:47 We actually manage robots and agricultural AI.
00:51 We use robots to do these farm works, and then use agricultural AI to help us assist
00:57 and manage all the farm activities."
01:01 Since 2021, Ai and Lin, both from XAG, an agricultural technology company, have been
01:07 pioneering a project to boost the intelligence of the cotton fields in Xiping Township of
01:13 Yuli.
01:15 This innovative endeavor has introduced facilities like soil sensors, weather monitoring stations,
01:21 farming operation recording systems, and a digital platform integrated with Beidou navigation
01:28 satellite system and agricultural drones.
01:31 Equipped with advanced technologies, the smart cotton field has achieved greater yields with
01:36 lower costs.
01:37 "In terms of planting costs, we can save about 420 yuan compared to the surrounding
01:42 farmers last year.
01:43 Our production has also improved by about 50 kilograms per acre.
01:46 We have reduced our costs and increased production, so we can easily make money."
01:53 "We hope to continue to polish our super cotton fields in the future, to constantly improve
02:00 our cultural proportion, and to improve our management and intelligence, so that management
02:06 can be easier and attract more young people back to the countryside, back to our agricultural
02:12 industry."
02:13 Xinjiang's commitment to agricultural mechanization is evident, with 100% mechanization in plowing
02:20 and seeding, 80% in harvesting, and an overall mechanization rate of 94% in cotton farming,
02:27 according to the region's Agricultural and Rural Affairs Department.
