00:25 but the biggest key right now is trying to find a clear spot, so exit a pit lane here and turn one.
00:32 Coming up here to the fountain, so you're second down the first gear here, famous fountain corner.
00:38 Then I've got a couple of cars here coming past, I think there was three or four of them.
00:44 It's the polite thing to do is get out of their way, and hopefully later on during the weekend or in qualifying they repay the favour,
00:52 so you're not ruining their laps.
00:55 Here you're in a lean mixture and a default mixture in the engine just to save on ignition and also fuel burn.

01:09 This is going to turn eight, which is the corner onto the back straight.
01:13 Really probably the most tricky corner on the track.
01:16 Here, just trying to get heat in the tyres.
01:22 You approach this, your out lap is one that is never going to be quick.
01:26 Your first time is generally not going to be that quick, so this whole first lap or two is figuring out a gap,
01:33 trying to get the tyre temps up, being cautious of not locking the tyres and getting flat spots.
01:39 Right now I'm changing the mixture, it's been in that lean, kind mixture to the engine and mix eight,
01:45 and now we go back to one full power, full boost, and you start the process of getting heat in the tyres,
01:52 coming and approaching turn one here, sixth gear, probably 170, 180 mile an hour.
01:57 Down to second gear, about 100 I think, or 80 mile an hour.
02:01 Fountain Square is probably, Fountain Corner is probably the slowest.
02:04 First gear, up to second here, through turn four.
02:07 Four a lot of understeer this weekend for some reason, mid-off.
02:10 Turn five is really tough as well.
02:12 Lots of bumps on approach, the big alligator curves that you've got to get through,
02:15 and this straight up to six is key for speed as well.
02:19 Six really opens up, it's got a bit of a blind apex, you've got to try and get really close to that wall on the left.
02:25 Approach to eight, this is tough.
02:26 As you can see here, some curves on the right there.
02:29 You've got to try and slip between them because you gain about two, three, four foot of track,
02:34 and you can get to the throttle earlier, you can gain up to two tenths.
02:37 Approach to turn nine, very bumpy, locking all four tyres on approach to there.
02:41 Through turn ten, still in second gear, and this is the famous Long Beach hairpin.
02:47 Tightest corner that we get to, first gear, straight to full throttle, big acceleration out of there.
02:54 Very key too though, because you can gain two, three tenths on the straight here,
02:58 all the way up to sixth gear if you can just get to that throttle a little bit earlier.
03:02 Very bumpy on this approach, braking about three hundred.
03:07 Obviously back to second gear, trying to get back to the throttle as quick as possible.
03:10 Fountain down to first, back to throttle.
03:12 All you're trying to do is carry the speed, roll the speed through the corner.
03:15 Turn four, big understeer there you can see.
03:18 And you've got to try and avoid these walls.
03:20 So, you know, turn five again over those alligator curves.
03:24 Up to straight, into sixth, gain time here on braking.
03:28 As you can see, just about clip that wall on the left, getting to the throttle here as quick as possible.
03:32 Second, third, up to fourth gear, back down to second,
03:35 and you've really got to cut this corner to try and get this maximum speed down the back straight.
03:40 All the way up to fifth gear, actually sixth gear today.
03:44 And then into turn nine here, down to second gear again.
03:48 Big curves on the right there.
03:50 Lots of time could be made through this ten, eleven section and approach to Hairpin.
03:54 So you've got to be very picky on how you pick your approach, how much brake you use,
03:59 and then trying to get to the accelerator as quick as possible for the front straight again.
